  1. Foodpanda Tries Out Drone Delivery For Takeouts In Sentosa After ordering food online, the typical thing to do is wait for delivery riders to arrive at our doorsteps. However, foodpanda has now opened up a different way of delivering our favourite snacks. From now till 9 Apr, foodpanda will partner with ST Engineering and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) in a pilot programme. They will be using drones to transport food from selected eateries to trial participants. The programme’s success will then determine whether drone delivery can be a viable option for guests in Sentosa. Foodpanda will deliver food via drones According to SDC’s media release, ST Engineering, SDC and foodpanda are collaborating in a pilot programme to test the efficiency of drone delivery for takeaway. Selected customers will purchase food via the foodpanda app from St John’s island. Participating restaurants in Sentosa will then prepare the dishes. Foodpanda riders will transport the packaged items to a take-off point in Tanjong Beach. Drones specially designed by ST Engineering will deliver the food to St John’s island. The flight will take approximately 7 minutes. The drones’ flight path will be far away from highly populated areas in Sentosa and Tanjong Beach to ensure safety. Drone delivery may be expanded outside of food-delivering apps. This will depend on the cost of upkeeping the drones, the payment system and operational requirements. Foodpanda using drones will open up options The media release reports that Sentosa will be extending its gateway to other Southern islands and is looking to expand options for guests. The drone delivery system will be one of these options, enabling guests to have a wider selection during their staycation at Sentosa’s resorts. Foodpanda has successfully conducted a trial on drone delivery before by transporting five packets of fried chicken to an offshore vessel. This programme will be a continuation by foodpanda into the venture of drone delivery. SDC also hopes to use drone delivery to support businesses coping with the pandemic, helping them to reach a broader base of customers. Drones can help businesses reach a wider audience Technology is constantly being adapted to help us in new and innovative ways in this modern era. Drone delivery is one of the many ways technology can improve our livelihoods. Using drones to support suffering businesses is an innovative way of helping eateries recover from the pandemic. Hopefully, this pilot programme will go a long way in improving the takeaway options available to us.
  2. Unfortunately, the only road-related matter in this fighting incident is its location. Watch this One Fighting Championship worthy fight here What Happened? A fight occurred along a road that Netizens have speculated to be in Yishun (Also known as the Ghetto in Singapore). A group of 5 men seemed to be engaged in a scuffle, while 2 other men clad in white were trying to break them apart. Among the group of 5 is a prominent individual, a Foodpanda rider (You will know which). He can be seen hitting a man in grey repeatedly from the start of the video. Moments later, he pushes the man in grey to the floor and proceeds to mount him and pound him with his fists. After that, another Foodpanda rider sees the man in grey sitting on the floor dazed and delivers a forceful kick to his head. The fight slowly dies down as the aggressors regain their composure. Netizens' Comments LOL! Could have gotten a TKO if it was a professional MMA match🤭 How apt😆 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. I say, take the day off and let them sleep! As the end of the week creeps around the corner, most of us might lack the motivation to wake up early in the morning and report to work. However, one Foodpanda rider receives a sweet surprise as he gets ready for another day of deliveries. As the rider approaches his motorcycle, he finds two sleepy stray cats using the vehicle as their beds. Unfazed by the scene, he wakes them up as he tries to turn on the motorcycle. Judging from his actions, it seems that this might be a common occurrence and that these cats are no stranger to the rider. With one cat comfortably splayed out on top of his Foodpanda bag and the other cosied up in a basket, they attempt to return to their beauty sleep. The rider continues to gently shake both animals awake as he needs to get to work immediately. Note: While it might look like it, the rider is not choking the white cat in this portion of the video. If this isn't the cutest thing you've seen today, then I don't know what is! Netizens' reactions It's so heart-warming to see this rider being so gentle with the cats. If I was a sleepy cat, I would definitely pick this spot to sleep in too! ======== Receive a $10 PayNow transfer for every submission we publish on Facebook! 4. An Audi A4 was seen recklessly cutting 2 lanes along Upper Bukit Timah Road on Wednesday (June 23), which resulted in the vehicle hitting a FoodPanda rider. According to the video, the black Audi A4 was cruising on the right of the camcar when it suddenly swerved towards the left, almost hitting a white Toyota van in the middle of the road. Upon collision, the FoodPanda rider and his motorcycle flew for a short distance before landing in front of a petrol station. It has been speculated by the video's description that the driver of the Audi A4 might have wanted to turn left but failed to form up in time, which resulted in the sudden swerve towards the left. Netizens' reactions Many netizens were upset with the reckless driving behaviour of the Audi A4, which could have prevented the accident if the driver had properly planned his route and was more aware of his surroundings. While we are unsure of the FoodPanda rider's condition at the moment, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope that all drivers will pay more attention when they're on the roads. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 5. A woman shared a heartbreaking story on Wake Up Singapore's official Facebook page of how her husband, who was a FoodPanda delivery rider, had passed away due to over-exhaustion. Recounting her experience, she recounted her experience on how she had to apologise to angry customers who were demanding updates on their late delivery orders on her late husband's phone while standing in front of his body. She then expressed her feelings about how the delivery company had handled the situation, stressing that the company should have updated her husband's customers about his death and arranging for later deliveries. Instead, she had to be the one to let them know about the tragic news while she was still in shock. At the end of her story, she emphasised an important point that all Singaporeans should heed. Being a delivery rider is no easy business and delivery companies should have proper procedures in place to notify their customers if their rider has been in an accident. What had started out as a Facebook comment quickly became a source of awareness, with hundreds of Singaporeans expressing their condolences and urging popular delivery companies to integrate a better standard of procedures for riders and customers alike.
  6. Do you know the story of David and Goliath? Well, if you don't, long story short, it's a story of a small boy who defeats a giant man with nothing but a slingshot. We have a Singapore version. Let's take a look at a short clip of a food delivery cyclist engaging in an argument with a bus driver driving a SBS bus. Unlike the David and Goliath story, no slingshots were used but, in true blue Singaporean fashion, lots of pointing and cursing ensued. This incident makes me think of the upcoming movie of Kong vs Godzilla (not a sponsored post. I really want to watch it though). The only difference? Both Kong and Godzilla are comparatively equal in size. This food delivery guy's bicycle pales in comparison to the bus to be frank. My take on this incident With all these dash cam cameras on the road these days, you're bound to end up online if you engage in such negative behaviour. So, what's the point in getting so worked up for? Lucky for the cyclist that this altercation was just a verbal one. Imagine if it had become physical. The internet would 'pang no chance' with this guy. Unfortunately, we cannot hear what the food delivery guy says to the bus driver. You can make your own assumptions but, from the body language, I'm quite sure it's a colourful conversation. "Thank you for giving way" 🤣 - They should put this sign next to the bus driver
  7. Interesting. Innovative but should I be looking out over my head now? Hahaha. In future we will probably have drones delivering food directly to our residence, (no) thanks to COVID-19 the world is now fast forwarding the development of technologies that will enable contactless and seamless services, without the need for human contact. Come to think about it, we're actually quite outdated for a supposedly modern and advanced nation.
