  2. On Sunday evening, I ordered my new iPad on line through Apple Customer Service On-Line Order together with external spare attachment battery and pouch. I ordered on-line after doing whole afternoon shopping comes to nothing as all sold out at Apple's stores and SingTel shops. Received a reply that order confirmed and payment made. On Wed, received another e-mail informing that the delivery of my external battery and pouch delivering on Thursday by local despatch company. Later in the evening, another e-mail confirming my delivery order number and also DHL tracking number code. Check the DHL code and was surprised that it was shipped all the way from USA. Its leave Apple store on 28/03 @ 1600hrs, reach airport in US at 1900hrs. Arriving to SG on 29/03 at 1400hrs. Cleared custom checks at 1642hrs in Changi Airport Cargo Complex. Current location at DHL warehouse, Singapore. I always have the impression that Apple has a main office in Singapore and with so many Apple stores around, my iPad could be delivered from one of those stores in Singapore. What a surprise that it was shipped from USA. Does anyone able to explain how come it was from US and not local Apple office?

  4. Just saw the news and post here to let bros know...no toileteries/electronics/medicated items to buy there from today 4pm onwards for 3 days until Sat 8pm...still can patronise other floor levels though...or hop over to nearby City Square. Apr 8, 2010 Mustafa to close 1st storey By Elena Chong IN AN unprecedented move, Mustafa Centre has been ordered to close its first storey for 40 hours from 4pm on Thursday to 8am on Saturday. No retail activity will be allowed on that level but the other floors of the six-storey building at Syed Alwi Road will not be affected. Even the money-changing and food delivery services outside the building can operate as usual. This followed an application by Singapore Civil Defence Force for a prohibition order which was granted by District Judge Imran Abdul Hamid on Thursday. SCDF had pressed for a 72-hour closure order but the court decided on 40 hours instead. SCDF had said that overcrowding was still an issue despite the company having been fined on Jan 19 for two charges of fire safety violations, including overcrowding. It went to court last month to seek the prohibition order as the mall had breached the 431-patron limit for the first storey. Mustafa's lawyer, Mr Mirza Namazie had argued that the order should not be given as it was not fair and right. He said his clients had been more vigilant since last week's hearing and had actually stopped people from entering once the number reached 380.
  5. Hi All, Just wonder anyone ordered a Mazda 2 or 3 (CAT A COE) before the recent COE result ? Anyone succeeded in bidding COE ? Reason for asking is because a relative who boastfully claimed they know the manager for > 10 yrs, booked a Mazda3 thru' him and confident to get the car by 15 Jan. But ended up did not get the COE. I wonder why did they not get the COE for my relative, especially when CAT A COE dipped by $1k. Mazda's recent CAT A sales was super super GOOD meh? or what ? Cheers

  7. June 26, 2007 US importer ordered to recall Chinese-made tyres NEWARK (New Jersey) - US safety officials have ordered a New Jersey tyre importer to recall as many as 450,000 tyres that it bought from a Chinese manufacturer and sold to US distributors. Foreign Tyre Sales Inc., of Union, New Jersey, said an unknown number of the light truck radials it imported since 2002 from Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., of Hangzhou, China, could suffer tread separation, a problem that led to the largest tyre recall in the US in 2000. FTS said an unknown number of the tyres it sold were made without a safety feature, called a gum strip, which helps bind the belts of a tyre to each other, the company said in a filing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Some of the tyres had a gum strip about half the 0.6 millimetre width that FTS expected, it said. Heather Hopkins, a spokeswoman for NHTSA, said its enforcement officials spoke to FTS on Monday to 'let them know we want a full tyre recall to take place.' 'It is FTS' responsibility to do this,' Ms Hopkins said. FTS failed to add a 'remedy' in its June 11 filing, which is essentially a description of how a company will notify customers and provide proper consumer compensation, Ms Hopkins said. FTS attorney Lawrence N. Lavigne said the tyres appear to meet federal standards but could still pose a risk to motorists. 'FTS, at great expense, investigated this,' Mr Lavigne said. The company, which has about a half-dozen employees, does not have the money to pay for a recall, he said. FTS does not have a warehouse. It has tyres shipped directly to distributors, who in turn send them to retail outlets, Mr Lavigne said. FTS said it believes other importers also sold such tyres made by Hangzhou Zhongce. The Chinese company has failed to provide information that would allow FTS to determine exactly how many tyres, and which batches, have the problem, Mr Lavigne said. According to the filing, the Hangzhou tyres at issue were sold under at least four brand names - Westlake, Compass, Telluride and YKS. -- AP
