  1. An older lady gets pulled over for speeding.... Older Woman: Is there a problem, Officer? Officer: Ma'am, you were speeding. Older Woman: Oh, I see.. Officer: Can I see your license please? Older Woman: I'd give it to you but I don't have one. Officer: Don 't have one? Older Woman: Lost it, 4 years ago for drunk driving. Officer: I see...Can I see your vehicle registration papers please. Older Woman: I can't do that. Officer: Why not? Older Woman: I stole this car. Officer: Stole it? Older Woman: Yes, and I killed and hacked up the owner. Officer: You what? Older Woman: His body parts are in plastic bags in the trunk if you want to see The Officer looks at the woman and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes 5 police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun. Officer 2: Ma'am, could you step out of your vehicle please! The woman steps out of her vehicle. Older woman: Is there a problem sir? Officer 2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner. Older Woman: Murdered the owner? Officer 2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car, please. The woman opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk. Officer 2: Is this your car, ma'am? Older Woman: Yes, here are the registration papers. The officer is quite stunned. Officer 2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving license. The woman digs into her handbag and pulls out a clutch purse and hands it to the officer. The officer examines the license. He looks quite puzzled. Officer 2: Thank you ma'am, one of my officers told me you didn't have a license, that you stole this car, and that you murdered and hacked up the owner. Older Woman: Bet the liar told you I was speeding, too.
  2. I met one this morning!! He's driving a fully laden trailer but kept to left most lane, unlike other lorry/trailer drivers who like to hog the 2nd lane from the left therefore slowing down traffic behind them even when the left most lane is empty. Nothing really wrong as they are not using the rigth most lane (illegal for trucks/trailers) but when the road/expressway is busy they should let faster traffic use other lanes they stick to left most lane. He kept to the left most and only filter out when the road reaches a Y junction and he had to take the right to continue. It took him quite a while to filter from left most to the right (at about 500m from where the Y split). Other truck/trailer drivers took the 2nd lane from the begining and slow everyone behind down to 'save' themselves the hassle of having to 'struggling' to filter before the Y split...
  3. It seems like suddenly there are a lot more ants around the house. No, I've not suddenly changed my habits and left things around that attract ants. I spoke to my parents who live elsewhere and they have the same observation. I'm not sure if it is the hot weather or even the haze. Anyone else experience this?
  4. Hello all. I am just wondering within these two or three months, have you ever tried to sell your car or gauge the value of your car in the second hand market. I did try to sell two cars and im in the midst of helping my brother in law selling his car. By now you should know that there are dealers pretending to be direct sellers when selling their cars. Their asking price is also very similar to the price displayed by the car dealers. I am sharing my personal experience when i sold my relative's car three weeks ago. It was a September 2008 corolla altis , 2 owners , car very tip top condition with a mileage of 116 000 . If you were to look at the price advertise by these dealers, it ranges from 54 000 to 59 000 but some of the calls i received by the dealers, they are just offering for 47k to 50k only. In fact, they have the cheek to tell me that once the car comes in to their garage , they will spend up to $3k to do up the car which i think is pure nonsense because the most they do is one coat of paintwork that costs around $800 to $1k. And these dealers also will charge admin fee and whatever else to further 'burden' the potential buyer. In another case, a dealer bought in a japanese mpv for 32k and two days later advertise it for over 41k. So ladies and gentlemen, i am just sharing with u as an end user we have to be very careful because the market practice is so bad and most of the time we are at the mercy of these dealers. I am sharing this so that we will be more aware of things and practices that happens around us. I hope there are other forummers who are willing to share your experience.
  5. lately seem to hear more about car-break ins in JB... bro's car was broken into and wallet gone from the glove compartment... robber did not take passports and other stuff which were in the glove compartment... no sign of forced entry... just glove compartment was opened and messed up... this happened in no more tyhan 3-4mins... he's a pretty careful guy... i've eaten at Sentosa uncountable times over the years since i was riding... i've seen snatch thieves in action and i was almost a victim myself before... i have dozen frds who have their car been broken into before in MY... but i have never withness a car break-in without forced entry... so wanna find out abit more... later at the car wash, saw another car but window was smashed... so guy my bro was lucky already... now all the stories i've heard of imobilizers getting the code copied is probably really done very well... question is, to duplicate a regular car alarm (i can do it myself)... is just the turning of the ignition key a couple of times to reset it... but to copy the alarm code when an owner opens his door, how true is this ah?... any experts with knowledge to share?...

  12. just an observer in mcf, been here for so many years (coming 10 years!), we see many started to behavior differently for past few weeks. ** some join in recent time to just talk about politic.... ** some had their view/believe consistent over time.... ** some act according to peer.... ** some comments were different from what they believe in the past.... ** some stand by their ground.... ** many kept quiet (hehehe..... you dun see them post at all [laugh] ) i have to say, we see more of the other side of human during this period which would normally behave, think, ration, act,..... what was discussed in the forum in the past can have a complete change of view now, even the tone/behavior changed. I hope when this is over, we are back to our normal self and have tkss again. everyone have their own right in voting so no need to spill over the effect after the event. as many know i am not sporean but been living here for 40 yrs (and i spent less than 6 mth in my own country over this period).... so i do feel the heat and the atmosphere at home was quite tense too (with wife of different camp) [laugh] **** please dun ask me to shut up
  13. We all have seen typical types of wedding videos.... some are quite boring in fact.... Last night's wedding vid was quite different (but maybe some of you have already seen similar vids before, but this was my first time seeing such a vid....):- The vid was filmed in near-black&white kind of colour, not too focused (very much like home-made youtube vid quality), but it showed the groom proposing the the bride by the road side at night (possibly a 3-lane main road at 11pm when traffic was not really heavy but cars did zoom pass).... shaky camera etc all thrown in ..... both of them and friends around were really casual: some in long-sleeves and burmudas... the gals in shorts and t-shirt...... the 'acting' was quite natural, when the bride saw the diamond ring, her mouth opened wide and then froze..... LOL..... flowers??.... he was holding only a single stalk..... cheap and good.... Any memorable wedding vids you have seen??
  14. I'm on Singtel mobile plan with iPhone 3G. Lately I'm having network problem, always network loss in my HDB carpark (usually basement, but only 1 basement floor) and some basement in some shopping area. Is it the Singtel or iPhone itself? (last time I do not have this signal lost problem).
  15. On 3 lane expressways, still can close 1 eye when good vehicle travel on lane 2 due to some extremely slow vehicles on lane 3. Whats the excuse for being on lane 2 on 5 lane expressways(some part of ECP) ? Also, notice more using lane 1 nowadays, and its not even due to some massive jam. Probably wont be so annoyed if they travel at least 80 if using lane 2, and at least 90 if using lane 1.
  16. Gmail, Reader and even search has been real bluddy slow. Anyone experienced the same ?

  18. Hi All, Just wonder anyone ordered a Mazda 2 or 3 (CAT A COE) before the recent COE result ? Anyone succeeded in bidding COE ? Reason for asking is because a relative who boastfully claimed they know the manager for > 10 yrs, booked a Mazda3 thru' him and confident to get the car by 15 Jan. But ended up did not get the COE. I wonder why did they not get the COE for my relative, especially when CAT A COE dipped by $1k. Mazda's recent CAT A sales was super super GOOD meh? or what ? Cheers

The day before saw one racing with a Latio down PIE like too fast too furious siah! I already doing 100 he still can cut like nobody business.. I think Taxi have too powerful engines liao. Should give them 660cc I think enough to get you from point A to B safely. What's the point of having a fast and powerful taxi but can't get one when you need?

  23. Hi, With so many high profile road accidents happening on Singapore roads lately, I cannot help but seem to agree with the recent survey that Singapore roads has one of the worst safety records among developed countries. Care to share what are some causes or observable traits among Singaporean drivers that could be attributable to the high accident fatalities or accidents on our roads? Here are a few personal observations to get going: 1) Simply careless drivers who are heavy on the paddle 2) Agressive driver with offensive driving tendencies 3) Young drivers who seem to have little regard or appreciation of safety or limits of car (don't mean to generalise here but insurance premiums seem to back up statistical claims) 4) Taxi drivers who seem to be more keen on making money with little regard for safety when they do sudden braking to stop just to pick up passengers anywhere along any roads -often at the peril of drivers who are behind them. 5) Pressures and pace of life here in Singapore that makes people not only walk fastest but also tend to drive fast too. Any others for the sake of spreading safe driving message? Rgds, GigaCrusher
