  1. Discussion: The Aftermath of Repeal of Section 377A We should have a proper discussion on the implications of the repeal of Section 377A, a law which arguable discriminates homosexual males. Recently we see that the gay couple has a lot of support from the community (gay community, i presume), as evidenced by the funds they've received in such a short time, which enables them to file their case of repealing S377A with the higher Courts. New Zealand recently allowed gay marriages and the liberals will be using that to argue their case. Personally I do not agree that Singapore should follow what the liberals and western system advocates. Whatever it works for western countries may not work in Singapore. The westerners think their system is superior and they tend to encourage other nations to adopt their system. One good example is the recent "liberation" of Myanmar, the liberation of Myanmar follows only the U.S standard. I always asked myself why can't the westerners follow the China system or Japanese system instead? What if 377A is repealed? What difference is it going to make to Singaporean's lives? Probably not much. If you want to have sex, you will still have sex in the privacy of your own room. But I think we will be seeing more public display of affection between gay men. I think I am okay with that. My nephew in primary school has asked me why the male bangladeshi workers holding their hands in public. He told me only girls hold hands when they go to the toilet. I told my nephew that that bangldeshis are very brotherly and that is their culture. I don't know what I am going to say to him if he saw 2 guys holding hands or kissing. Naturally, after the successfull repeal of 377A, I think the liberals will lobby for gay marriages. It is going to be a big overhaul of our laws: Woman's charter, Muslim Marriage Act and Inheritance Act as I remember these laws specifically use the word "woman". I am sure the word "spouse" has to be re-defined. Male-gay couples have no problems with adopting children as there is a loophole in the adoption system in Singapore which allows a single male to adopt children as long as the adopter passes the minimum age requirement. How is the gay-couple going to enroll their children in public schools? MOE will have to overhaul their forms to remove the terms "father" and "mother". In other words, the terms "father" and "mother" may even be seen as discriminatory. What about TV drama and media? Is there going to be an overhaul and reflect 2 guys holding hands, "paktor-ing"? I meant, if you only show male-and-female couple, it is discriminatory to the gay couples! Am I thinking too much? Maybe I shouldn't drink so much at night. Gdnite. I'm off to beD.
  2. SINGAPORE - A section of Orchard Road will be turned into a no-car zone and become a walker's paradise. The 660m stretch from shopping centres ION Orchard to Ngee Ann City, or between Scotts/Paterson and Bideford junctions, will be closed to all vehicles on the first Saturday of every month from October.- As part of a six-month trial, shoppers can roam the street without worrying about honking drivers, who will be shut off from the stretch between 6pm and 11pm. The Orchard Road Business Association (Orba) hopes that such a move will draw more shoppers to the shopping belt and revitalise the area, which is facing stiff competition from new shopping haunts like Marina Bay as well as suburban malls. Shutting sections of road happens routinely on certain weekends in most major shopping cities, including London and Tokyo. And in Beijing, the Wang Fu Jing shopping street is permanently closed to traffic. This also happens every year in Orchard Road, for big events such as the Christmas celebrations on Dec 25 and the annual Fashion Steps Out show. For the new Pedestrian Night, organisers have been roped in to turn the street into a hive of activity. For the inaugural street event on Oct 4, for instance, there will be a mass tennis clinic. Dubbed Tennis Pops Up@Orchard Road, revellers can play street tennis, watch live exhibition matches and music performances. The event is held together with the Women's Tennis Association finals, which will be staged here next month.Other events like a mass yoga session and a Christmas carnival have been planned till the end of the year. The once-a-month street events are partially funded by the Singapore Tourism Board andOrba. Mrs May Sng, Orba's chairman, said Orchard Road "will no longer just be a shopping belt but a vibrant lifestyle destination with an array of exciting activities for all to enjoy".

  8. Dear all fellow Alfa Fans & Enthusiast! First and foremost, I'm very happy to announce the start of the new MyCarForum Alfisti Section! This is proudly hosted by MyCarForum.com and with the kind support from the Management of MyCarForum, especially RagingBull (Moderator) and Laserjet (Administrator) This new Alfisti section is a place where the serpents meet and share the passion of Alfa, the Alfisti community of people (here or anywhere) with similar interest, though to each of their own, deep down we still share the love and as what some called it, “The Heart and Soul”! To clear all doubts about the purpose of this new Serpent’s Pit. This new section is basically a continuity of what we had in the Conti Section, if not, better. The improvement we made is based on the feedback over the years (try reading from Page 1 of the “Alfa 159 Part II”) and the suggestions, feedback and ideas given by you! To further clarify, no, we are not forming a club, this is MyCarForum, Alfisti Section. We are surely and definitely not competing with any other forums, clubs, affiliation and etc. In fact, we would recommend and point you to the right direction of the official club first. Since we are carrying on with the tradition as promised, we will still use the primary thread, the “Alfa 159 Part II” thread. However, this does not stop anyone from creating new topics or threads for other related queries. All discussions are always, and I must stress, always welcome! History and Credit of the GIGANTIC “Alfa 159 Part II Thread” I must also first of all give credit to Chrispie, the founder of the “Alfa 159 Part II Thread” back in 5th Oct 2008. Without him or this thread, we, Alfistis of MyCarForum would have been lost here! With over 19k of posting and more than 624k worth of views, we have shown how much this community has built, without moderation, without discrimination, or grudges, we still managed to remain harmonious till today. Truly, we are just a bunch of Alfa enthusiast chatting our hearts out! Best of all, we must not forget that all of YOU that contributed to this thread. Yes, ROME is not built in a day and so are we! Hence, without further delays, here it is: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showto...amp;start=19120 Last but not least; we are constantly looking to improve ourselves so please do PM me if you have any queries, suggestions, ideas or comments (both good or bad). Do check out the meetup folders for our kopi sessions, breakfast drive and other activities. If you are a newbie, don’t be shy, the history as mentioned has shown we are indeed a friendly and no-frills bunch of Petrol-Heads! Thank you, Le_Stig

  10. Hi guys, As you all know, we will be setting up a new Alfa Romeo Club section under Car Clubs. We need two more mods to help out Le_Stig in the running of the new section, so this poll is to decide who you guys feel should be appointed. I will leave this poll open for one week, and the two nominees with the most votes by then will be appointed mods together with Le_Stig. Thank you for your cooperation. Ragingbull
  11. Did you guys notice Lynlex is missing from the sponsor section? The last time I saw AhBao9388 accidently updated The Lynlex unknowingly using his "AhBao9388" id. A;so in that Lynlex thread, he insisted that Kaiguan has nothing to do with Lynlex. After I saw him making the a/m mistake, I quoted his post and asked him. The thread suddenly got deleted/missing. Is there something wrong with this forum or KaiGuan or Lynlex?? So mysterious...............

  15. 1. I'm amused to see workshop advertised big big for euro and chrome number plates in the classified section. Even, advertisment for bolt-on Turbo can be found too. 2. Are these advertisment giving us a false impression that these are legal mod? Regards,
  16. Hi, i was looking through the sponsors section and i realised that we can't tell what kind of products/services the sponsors sell without looking into each individual post. Perhaps we can have a list of sponsors along with a gist of their business so if say we're looking for suspension we just look at the list and click on the name of the sponsor to send them a PM rather than have to look through individual threads to find out what they offer.
  17. Hey guys.. wat do u pple tink of the idea if we were to like have reviews on the various shops we've been to and maybe post field reports..maybe like car accessories/performance shops, ICE shops etc etc... 19. Hi all, Check it out. AutoS' impeccable piece of artwork has been published in the current issue of Wheels Asia. Really like the looks of the fabricated PPI Logo. I suppose it must have required quite some effort right, AutoS?
