  1. TL;DR - Reckless Lancer driver speeds, loses control and crashes into barricades upon skidding along Keppel Viaduct. Watch this 51-second video to see the dramatic skid. So what happened? On a rainy day, this Lancer was caught speeding and overtaking another vehicle along Keppel Viaduct. After it overtook the car, the driver somehow lost vehicle traction, which caused the Lancer to crash on the left side’s concrete barrier. This was not all, the vehicle spun and slammed into the right barricades, crashing both its front and rear ends. The video was captured by the cam car and uploaded on SGRV. Online Chatter Wet roads, bald tires or bad driving skills? This Lancer driver checked all the boxes. Takeaway It’s the monsoon season now and weather reports expect showers to continue into next week. Therefore, it is highly advisable to be extra cautious on the road. Here are some tips to stay safe: Maintain a safe distance between cars Keep to the middle lane Avoid e-braking Don’t speed Ensure tires are treaded Alternatively, you can drive like this Lancer and look like you're in a pinball machine ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TLDR; Motorcyclist rides recklessly along a stretch of wet road on a rainy day and ends up skidding at a bend and falls down... hard. Watch the video for yourself below 295700502_1120202368852630_2227411090361525905_n.mp4 A motorcyclist has been caught on camera riding like he’s in a MotoGP race, swerving along a bend on a rainy day like he’s a professional racer. Unfortunately, that did not work out too well for him when he skidded along the bend and managed to fall down on his @$$. Maybe he has always dreamt of being a racer. For professional racers to make turns, their tyres do need to have a proper grip so that they don’t end up slipping and falling like the person above. Especially on a rainy day where the surface is wet, it would definitely be more important to drive with caution and at a slower speed Hope he managed to learn his lesson by now The open road is definitely not a place to practice your MotoGP racing skills. If there were vehicles nearby, this situation would definitely have been a lot worse. Netizen Comments Netizens express their take on the situation above, some hoping for the motorcyclist’s safety, and others criticizing him for his mistake. Road safety is not a joke if you want to keep your body parts intact. All in all, we hope the motorcyclist is safe and didn't manage to sustain any long lasting injuries. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. I'm not saying there are supernatural forces behind this incident, but it's not improbable. With the cam car travelling in Lane 1 and the lorry travelling on Lane 2, the video starts with the cam car diagonally behind the heavy vehicle on the PIE. As both vehicles manoeuvre around a bend, the cam car promptly overtakes the lorry. This explains the change in perspective throughout the video. As if something had possessed the vehicle, the lorry suddenly skids to the left. The driver counters the skid by turning the wheel to his right. Luckily, no vehicles were between the cam car and the taxi behind it, leaving a vast space open for the lorry to enter. Due to the inertia from the sudden right turn, the back of the vehicle forcefully swings out. The driver then turns his wheel to the left, resulting in the vehicle performing a 180-degree spin, reminiscent of those served by ballerinas at a recital. The vehicle ends up back onto Lane 2. Towards the end, the back of the lorry slams against the front of a moving shipping truck in Lane 3. Honestly, with that kind of stunt, it is definitely a miracle that the lorry driver managed to avoid a potentially fatal collision. Netizens' reactions Several netizens commended the driver for his quick thinking and amazing skills at handling a skidding lorry, while others seemed to speculate possible reasons behind the sudden skid. He was so quick to react too! Judging from the video, it is not certain if the lorry was speeding on that day. Seeing how easily the cam car overtook the vehicle, I would not be that quick to jump on the 'lorry must have been speeding' train. Hopefully, he's alright! ======== Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  4. Location: Slight bend on ECP right lane Speed: 60+ to 70kph overtaking Road Condition: Very wet with heavy rain Car: SSS Tyres: RE001 Just now during heavy rain on the ECP, was doing an overtake on the right lane at 70kph (middle land speed was 60kph in the heavy rain). During the turn, lost control of the car momentarily and skidded to the 2nd lane. Believe that there was a puddle on the road at that point of time. Lucky there was no car in the middle lane if not consequences would be bad. Just wondering, what could have happened? Was it aqua-planning? Was it possible on such speeds and on pretty decent RE001s which still have much thread on them? Is it only a tyre problem?
  5. there's rampant talk about this tyre being lousy in the wet, skidding here and there, and I'm just wondering if there's anyone here who has skidded in the wet with this tyre. frankly i've never really skidded, but hydroplane a few times (straight line, no danger) and have been on many tires before, including aspec db. my worst wet weather tires seem to be continetal contact sports (model 2 i think, about 7 years back) that will skid as soon as it hits a wet cement patch in my HDB Multi storey carpark. i mean if it were really a skid hazard, it would be shelved, or someone's going to sue yokohama. so... ASPEC DB'S POOR IN THE WET - FACT ? OR FICTION ?
