Not really. The FC of cars r done quite scientifically & it must b verified too.

 

To simply make a claim that a car can do 23km/lit when it cannot even come close, after following the stated method(in this case it's 10.15 japan test), is plain dishonesty.

 

That's like saying u r getting 20 lit of petrol from the pump when u fill up your tank but only get 15 lit cos the meter is faulty or inacurrate. The petrol station is cheating u of 25% of your money.

 

Wud u claim back the $$$ u lost if u find out??? Sure u wil.

If the method of the test is followed closely, they sud b able to get the stated figures unless they were not very honest about it.

 

Your stated FC is actually quite close to the stated figures cos u upgraded your rims & r travelling abt 8% more than what your oddometer is showing.

...but 24km/litre is probably achieveable in an ideal condition...no a/c, windows up, one passenger, highly inflated tires, no uphill drive, alot of down hill cruising, little use of brakes, change gear at 2,000 rpm.... it is possible.

 

Oh yes, not to mention that the test was probably done in China where the ambient temperature is much lower and the air denser. Over here, high ambient equates to higher engine temperature, less dense air , more humidity, etc. It would affect engine performance.

 

Nevertheless, when they claim 24 km/litre but the general owners get only 12 km/litre, the dealer can be hauled up to CASE or LTA to answer for their claim. Even with all the factors mentioned above, the deviation should not be so much like HALF !

I think you are right in some way. For undercharge of petrol in the station I will claim back as it is very easy to measure.

 

However for the QQ owners it will be harder, cos the maker can always claim SG driving conditions etc.

If they cannot achieve the claimed figure of 24km/lit, then something is not right.

 

BTW, when they did the test, who verified & confirmed the FC???

 

If they did it without an independent authority to verify, then I dont think the result wil b accurate. Especially since it was done in China.

 

I wud b very scepetical of claims made by china companies.

Well the owners can try to take their claim to CASE or LTA but I doubt they really care too much.

 

In Korea, Hyundai was taken to task when they overstated their HP claims.

 

In SG, CASE might b their best bet, but as I said, dont expect too much. So far, it seems our laws r not very pro consumer.

 

Maybe that's why companies feel thay can get away with making un-realistic claims.

 

But over time, our crediability will get worse. Then nobody wil believe what we say.

 

Even from the replies here, it is clear many pple dont believe the FC claims made by the agents here. That already goes to show how much trust we have in what our companies say.

 

I dont think it is a very good sign.

How wud u know that the pump is giving u the accurate amt of fuel???

 

Who actually checks how much fuel is going into their tanks.

 

So far, we trust the weights & measure dept to check the accuracy of the pumps, but r they really doing a proper check regularly.

 

Has anybody ever seen them being checked when u were at the stations????

 

I know that since I have been filling petrol >25 years ago, I never once saw anybody doing any checks.

oh.. din realise the difference.. but although I up 1" on my rims, my tyres are low profile.. therefore wont it be v close to the actual size of the old 14" rims but with thicker tyres?

 

Will tat still account for a difference of 8%?

Yah...I love my QQ more as days goes by, put aside the low fuel consumption. I find QQ very responsive on roads, it's plus point is light, so easy to move it but also because it's light, so when turnin corners like entering into Expressway, cannot go for more than 30 km/l, else I can find the car "float" and got to swing to another lane to grip the road.

Chery QQ is a common sight on the roads now... I see least 1 QQ every other day.

 

Has anyone test driven the newly launched 1.6l Chery?

so far i've only seen 2 QQs..

 

and 1 of them was on the 1st lane of PIE hogging the lane at 90kmh with a taxi following closely behind and me behing the taxi..i can imagine how loud the engine of that car must be screaming..

 

and the other one was on NSH..i can't imagine if he actually go all the way to the speed limit of 110kmh..

Hee hee......pai-sei to confess that I have yet to take pictures for my new babe because I have been out of town over the weekends. But its a good idea....I will conside taking photos. BTW how to put pics in Showroom section huh? p/s: I just registered with mycarforum today leh!

 

Perhaps I have been driving 1.6 litre cars all the while (my 1st family car is Hyundai Elantra 1.6 manual (driven for 6 yrs), 2nd family car (still driving now, 2yrs old) is Toyota Altis 1.6 auto), so I am a bit disappointed with the lack of power especially pick-up from 1st & 2nd gears.

 

But we are all matured adults and I know my priorities (as stated in my Recommendation section of my previous posting), so should not complain.

 

Oh just 1 thing forgotten to share about the setback of QQ - it's pretty noisy when driving - the noise was from the air-con (not the engine). At times I even hear the paper blowing kind of whistling sound, quite irritating. But the QQ veteran mechanic uncle (retired from Borneo Motor)told me it's from the air-con and common among 1 litre car. Any comment from those 1 litre car owners?

I don't think its the air con prob.

I drive a picanto and the air con is cold and quiet.

I tested the Kelisa, QQ and Picanto before finally settling for the Picanto.

To me the Picanto is the most value for money based on these points:

1. Interior is spacious compared to Kelisa

2. Picanto has 1.1L engine.

3. Picanto brake that I tested is more responsive than QQ. (I got a shock when I tested the QQ brakes!)

4. I personally feel that Picanto's interior is nicer than Kelisa (QQ's interior is comparable to Picanto)

5. I prefer the design of Picanto compared to the Kelisa and QQ.

 

Well its just my opinion only.
