If I replace my ride's plugs with performance spark plugs such as NGK or Denso without changing the "sotong-chiu" aka power cables, will there be any difference in performance?

Thanks.

No difference. What really counts in spark performance is your coil system. The sotong head type is ok. The coil on plug or DIS systems are damn powerful.

Performance cables are designed to allow the lest amount of high kilovolt drop from coil to plug. For example the HT coil maybe producing 30kv and if you have a high resistance cable, by the time it reaches the plug , the available KV maybe in the region of 15.Most of the performance cables have external covering make from silicon in order to within higher engine temp.

PS photo show a simple tester used to test spark plug KV

actually there will be a difference... in terms of spark strength... silver is the best, followed by copper (and i'm not talking abt the nickle plated copper types that most ppl manufacture), platinum followed by irridium. Forget the hype that platinum and irridium etc are better for performance. they just last longer.

Cables help more though.

Hi Genie47!

Would appreciate if you could point me to some website to get a bit more information about the "sotong head" type coil and "DIS" system!

Trying to get a bit "more" out of my Estima [:p]

Thanks!!! [flowerface]
