Will this mod improve pick up?

I am driving my dad's Honda civic 1.6 VTEC MT for the next few years as he will be overseas.

 

Will the following improve acceleration?

 

1) extend two CAI tubes to the stock air box plus change to drop in filter.

 

2) get a piggy back ECU

 

if these dun work, any advice fellow drivers here?

 

BTW i dun wish to TC or SC the engine. i juz wanna mod for faster pick up for city driving, for high end, highway performance, i believe that Honda VTEC is good enough to satify this.

 

any advice?

Bro, if you are not modding your exhaust, extractor ... etc i feel that it is not necessary to lup a piggy back ECU

 

Jus change to better spark plugs, drop in air filter plus CAI would be slightly good enough

I'm driving a stock ES and it offer reasonable pickup for city driving and overtaking at expressway.

 

Leave it as it is and save your $$$.

If purely for pick-up, try changing to a lightweight crank pulley. Pros & cons... pick up is enhanced but speed will decrease faster if drop gear too.

Bro, so good car still want to improve pick up, how fast you want?

VTEC MT, as long as you don't pity your petrol, just floor accelerator and change gear above 5000rpm, all the current on road cars have to smell your discharged smoke

Desire to have more horses is a norm.

 

For mere improving in pick-up, try lightening ur ride. Crank pulleys, flywheel r things u can lighten. However choose the brands carefully. Best to skim ur flywheel and get lightened crank pulleys. Flywheel ideal weight should be 6-6.8kg(skimed). Too light, u can't climb MSCP slope in 2nd gear.

 

Change ur exhuast system. So far no LTA friendly extractor and midpipe. SO its at ur own risk. Muffler got many. HKS, SS, remus etc.

 

Can play wif gear ratios as well.

seriously it depends on how much improvement you are looking at, if a bit what you suggested still works

 

if its a 3 second 0-100 improvement then honestly its cheaper to change to a better car
