there's plenty of chinese in viet lah.. mostly of teochew/ canto origin.

 

many of them r either traders / remnant of KMT's army fighting the commie red. all ran off into the south east asia for refuge. later surrender arms and change citizenship.

They could not even speak french let alone English.As for culture, they are heavily influence by the chinese since donkey yrs ago. They even use chinses characters for their written language. Romanised viet written language is formulated and introduced to them by the french priests before Russian, US, China ,Vietcong comes into the political scences
