Apparently you didn't get what I trying to tell you. What I saying it's not a safe pratice to conduct reverse light testing in a car test lane where there are about 4 cars in Q.In the event of any miss operation, accident will occur[bigcry] .For a production-like kind of car testing system , the company just cannot allow such downtime.

Change reverse light to LED can pass inspection?

See your luck. By right, cannot. Depends on the person there doing the inspection. Even the license plate light, by right also cannot change to LED if stock is not LED. Was told by the person doing the inspection. But he closed one eye.

I wonder why anyone want to change license plate light to LED....make it easier for the speed cameras to get a clear picture? :D

If stock is LED, but change to halogen. Think will fail or pass? If car is turbo, but changed to non-turbo. Think will pass or fail? If engine 2 liter, change to 1.6 liter. Pass or fail?

Is the answer 'fail' for all three questions ???

1) If not mistaken, the speed camera can detect the license plate whether there's bright lights or total darkness

But certain reflective plate may blurred the plate number.

2) A bright license plate number will make it easier for anyone else/other road users/pedestrian to read the number plate

3) Some car owners changed to brighter LED license plate number more for aesthetic reasons i think. Furthermore, newer cars tend to have brighter/whiter bulb (or LED).  Similar with luggage/boot lamp, changing to LED is a simple mod to have brighter/whiter and more useful light, as done by many car owners.

4) Too bright/too obvious  LED lights (license plate, reverse light, position light) will be more likely notice by the vehicle inspection centre staff (unless its stock/factory fitted), but in most cases, i think they will close one eye and just advise the owner to change after inspection/dont get caught by mobile LTA officers.

I have the same thoughts as you.

Used to have LED number plate light on previous car, until I realized why make it easier for the TP cameras to spot me? Lol

I don't know if I should change my reverse lights to LED. Because I have seen inspectors failing cars due to this. One engages reverse gear and the other observes the light from behind.

I have seen the workshop I go to install separate LEDs under the bumper for a car. Turns on when his reverse light is on. They added one plug inside the boot area so the owner can easily unplug when he go for inspection then plug back in after that.
