Shell kiosk along tanglin rd?

hi all,i remember around 3 years back i went to a Shell kiosk along Tanglin rd.

it was on the left side of Tanglin rd towards Orchard rd,somewhere near Nassim hill.

i had driven pass there many times before and don't seem to see it for a long time.

until today when i wanted to go there and pump,i couldn't find it.

is it closed down already?

That one has closed for quite some time. I think that building is up for sale for redevelopment.

Guessed it's not profitable to sell petrol there.

The land in tanglin and orchard is so expensive... how can it be profitable?

 

I miss the one at holland road too. With the nice auto car wash.

actually there are alot of richies there who owns fleet of cars nearby.

but then,the Shell was kinda "hidden".

if you didn't take a closer look,you might not know there is a Shell station there.

Yeah, but rich people pay the same amount for fuel as well. In order to break even, you'd need a higher volume of customers compared to a station that is on cheaper land.

Will the day come when the land lease are so expensive that petrol stations are only located at places like Tuas, Sungei Buloh and Woodlands?

if it really happens,we "pay" for them.

in other words,they increase the petrol prices.

there was a change in SCDF safety requirements (maybe for fear of terrorism) for petrol stations some years back. hence, all kiosk under buildings was removed.
