Tjkbeluga 5th Gear February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 Don't need to buy expensive one laa... As if you can see the difference. This is unlike analog, where there's degradation of quality if poor quality cable is used. In digital realm, it's either you see it or you don't. No loss if you see it. Just get those compliant to HDMI 1.3a is good enough. HDMI cables in Singapore is definitely overly priced. Even Daiwa ones are 70+.... Siao.. Unless your LCD TV and the device distance is VERY long (much more than 5 meters), then almost any HDMI cable will do. There is no difference. Nutsack Clutched February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 Don't need to spend above $30 for HDMI cable. I guarantee, unless you're superman, you won't be able to tell the difference between a $100 cable, and one that costs $17. I've got two recommendations. I bought a 1m HDMI cable (gold plated) for $17 from ISTM Engineering, on 6th floor of Sim Lim Sq. It's #06-51. Good thing I kept the receipt. It works perfect. Plays my bluray videos perfectly. It works as well as my $29 HDMI cable. A friend came over for a demo of Iron Man Blu Ray noted that the movie actually is sharper and smoother on my TV than his, even though he spend $100+ on a Monster HDMI cable. But it's mostly cos my TV's better. So really cables don't matter. Spoil, just buy new one. Another place you can source for good and cheap HDMI cables is from www.play-asia.com if you don't mind the wait online. A lot of professionals on HWZ forums have recommended the place. Again, everyone's advice is never to spend more than 30 bucks on an HDMI cable. Check out AVSforums.com and for a more locallised fare, try hardwarezone forums. :)
Leepee 1st Gear February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 So true. Its a carry-over from the 90's Hi-Fi mad period. Those days signals were analog, so cables play a very big part in audio/video quality! Better contacts and lower resistance will help for Analogue signals. If you are running HDMI throughout your entire Bangalow from basement to rooftop, more than 50meters length, then you may need better cables or even repeaters! If its only 2meters from DVD to TV, then a rasonable $20 ones will do just as well. Its all about signal loss over super long distances. Digital signals are more robust compared to analogue signals. Do you see Computer Geeks buying super gold plated cables to link their monitors or HardDisks to increase the data transfer speed and sharpness? Maybe M***ter C**les should come out with a super-duper high clarity USB cables to dupe even more people who are into such things. Just take a look inside your DVD players(or TV set if you got the chance), those cables that are welded to the RCA/HDMI connectors are super thin and cheap-skate ones. The cut-cost rot already existed in the DVD/TV side, no point getting a good cables to act as in-between! Just like buying V-power petrol to use in a QQ or poor power car, hoping for even a small increase in power! Dream on! Don't need to spend above $30 for HDMI cable. I try connect my PC to LCD TV through HDMI, unfortunately the driver is not working properly (exclaimation mark) I have the graphics but no sound, Is my problem a norm for Windows Sp2? Unltd 5th Gear February 9, 2009 Share February 9, 2009 thanks bro...mine is less than 1m distance... In fact, it is the distance that matters. As much as possible try to keep to a distance for HDMI cables which are short, thus as much as possible buy short cables. ↡ Advertisement
