    HDMI cables

hi any bros using the above and have any good recommendations? what kind of specs should one look for when comparing the cables? lastly, is $100 possible to get decent ones? thanks....total noob on LCD TVs...
  2. i know nothing about speaker cables. can anyone recommend me a reasonably good speaker cable? i need to connect my front standing speakers to my amp (home entertainment system - not car). maybe budget less than $20 per meter? and where to buy? thanks
  3. http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?autoco...p;product=20324 Decide to change my cables since they have not been replaced since the previous owner. Also to see if the claims is really true or some snake oil stuff. the person also claimed that the new Proton Gen2 will be using their cables starting in August. Initial view of it is noticeable I have to say. Its not day and night difference but its noticeable. The pick up is slightly better and engine revs faster at WOT. I am able to shift earlier. Previously, I have to shift to 5th gear at 50KM/H min or engine will vibrate and lack of power. Now, I can manage it at slightly over 40KM/H w/o having the vibration. Perhaps the feeling is similar to having brand new oil or spark plugs. Btw, my plugs are just 1 week old and they are Bosch IR Fusion. Engine oil is less than 1000KM using Amsoil Signature 10W30. To be sure, I swap back the original cables and then back again. Yes, its confirmed that there is a difference. No top speed test done as I need to go NSHW to try it out. Construction wise, its pretty standard aftermarket stuff with silicone insulation and rubber boots. The silicone insulation is a good thing since its more lasting than pure rubber insulation. For $120, I must say its quite a decent replacement since a new set of OEM cables will also cost ~$100. I will test the cables further. I am just guessing it does not have a built-in resistors (standard OEM wires will have it) for noise suppression. Hence its able to create a stronger spark.
  4. Anyone have experiences with the NGK power cables and G power spark plugs? Power Cables claims the following: NGK's Power Cable is a performance spark plug cable designed with ultra-low resistance (0.9kW/m). The ultra-low resistance reduces spark energy loss, thereby improving acceleration, delivering smoother idling, and burning fuel cleaner. NGK's patented hyper silicon jacket minimizes voltage leakage, is resistant to heat and chemical corrosion, and it is reliable under extreme conditions. It's the hyper silicon jacket and the ultra-low resistance that allows NGK to maintain the factory diameter wires and provide the performance you crave. * Ultra Low Resistance Reduces Spark Energy Loss * Improves Acceleration * Delivers Smooth Idling * Improves Fuel Efficiency G power claims the following: Improved Fuel Efficiency, Lower Emissions, Quicker Starts. * Fine platinum tip reduces required voltage * Extremely durable under high heat *
  5. since it's quite rojak under my bonnet, i'm wondering where to get a set of ignition (spark plug) cables. mine's starting to melt, i suspect it's not too long before fireworks gonna start. can i just use any brand, just as long as it fits the 21mm hex plugs? most sets sell in fours now, but i need the "5th cable" for the coil pack to the distributor. suggestions?
  6. Virtually every driver will, at some point, get that sinking feeling that comes when your car doesn't start. Digging out a set of jumper cables to boost a battery is a rite of passage. Jump-starting a car can be a slightly tricky process, though. The positive and negative terminals of the booster and "boostee" need to be connected properly or the battery can be blown up. Which is, you know, sub-optimal. Over the past decade, a number of devices have come out to help ease the battery-jumping process, including portable booster batteries and even jumper cables that plug into a 12V outlet inside the car. Those plug-in cables will never be connected with reverse polarity, but they might not be able to carry enough current to actually crank your engine. Enter the Michelin Smart Jumper Cable. Instead of the usual color-coded clamps for your battery's positive and negative terminals, the cables are all Michelin blue. Halfway down the cable is a box of electronic smarts. Just put one clamp on the positive terminal of the battery and the other on any piece of bare metal and the electronics will detect whether you've made a complete circuit and illuminate an LED on the central box. When the second battery is connected, the electronics automatically determine the polarity and switch it as needed. A set of these smart jumper cables runs about $30 to $40. http://www.pylonhq.com/products_smart_jumper_cables_tm.php
  7. Hi bros, need some advice here. Is the interconnect (RCA cables) used in car audio similar in specs to the RCA audio cables for home Hi-Fi? Am thinking to get some DIY cables to "upgrade" the normal RCA cables in my car (HU to Power Amp), but don't know if there is any special consideration. Want to get some with better shielding capability. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

  20. Anyone here can help me ask where to get and how much it will cost for 2 sets of Stinger RCA = Bullet / speaker cable = HPM 8 guage to re-wire a Sunny N16 with 1x4ch-amps all the way to the rear boot for enough length for cash and carry and the other with installation. This is for a friend of mine.
  21. yet another of my wiring questions. my current grounding for my single amp system is only from amp negative output to rear seat metal, one cable 4-gauge. i see a lot of fancy UFO-style grounding plates with octopus wires coming out of it from negative term of car battery in many cars. is that essential for ice? or for system safety? someone wanna sell this "HKS circle earth grounding with correct length cables for direct bolt on" and it sounds like the octopus thing. not sure if it's applicable. thanks!
  22. hi, i plan to go to JK Audio at Choa Chu Kang tomorrow to install an amp and sub in the boot of my hatchback. what should I be looking out for to make sure he at least matches the standard of most other installers? if he wants to charge a bit more for using these cables, i dont mind the extra cost. i just dont want to end up using unacceptable stuff and saving those few pennies. e.g. what kind of power cable, RCA cable, speaker cables etc? if some1 could mention a few sizes and models, i could just ask him to use those and let him charge a bit more. all i'm hoping for is a reasonable install at least up to the standard of most installers around. i ask this cos he gave a quote lower than most installers so i'm suspecting he'll cut corners .. i'm going to him not cos he's cheaper, but because every1 else is tied up with chinese new year.
