KIDnapping--beware

When it comes to kid, do not put too much trust in any one other than your own family.

On the other hand, do not over-protect your children to the point that they are so gullible even at the age of 10 year old. Most kids are playful, which is their rightful nature. They don't pay attention to their parents when they are talking to someone else, or attracted to something. Not everyone will agree with me, but I would let them feel a little anxiety to be lost without the parent for a while in a controlled environment, so they can understand the problem of getting lost.

i concur. for those with maids, it would be good to have your neighbour's feedback on how they take care of yr kids in your absence especially when out in public. everyday, i noticed maids who bring their charges to playground & they will wander off to somewhere to yak away on their hp.

just last week, this China grandmother was at the playground looking for her grandson who is about 9years old and had gone missing after her back was turned. my fren & i tried to help but due to communication problems (she don't speak putonghua) we were helpless.

nowadays, it is no use having them memorizing the parents' hp no. so, i always test my kids' alertness by walking off when they wander out of our sight.

When my relative brought his toddler (then 2 - 4 yrs old) daughter to KL, Bangkok or Hong Kong, they make sure that she was tethered (leashed) to him or his wife whenever they go to crowded areas. This is to make sure that she does not unwittingly stray out of sight and possibly fall victim to abductor(s). When toddler loses sight of parent in a crowd, it is difficult to locate parent amongst the tall persons around. They may become frightened but may not cry aloud before readily trust & follow a person who say she would bring him/her to parent. Note that to be effective the leash should not be easily uncoupled at child's end.

Abductors, like pick-pockets, may work in pairs and are opportunists. One person spots child of careless parent/grandparent & leads him away and passes to second person. Within 1 minute a child can be whisked away far enough before parents realise he is missing!

Some months ago a poster in Stomp question why a parent was having her young child on leash. Perhaps that parent was very wise.

So it looks like parents should not be complacent in our relatively safe Singapore environment and take appropriate precautions. Losing costly things maybe painful, but losing a child to abduction will be heartbreaking & tormenting for a long time.

may i know where can i buy such leash?

MANY parents, grandparents or maid dun even hold the child hand, not even when crossing a heavy traffic road, let alone to protect them from KIDnapper <_<<_<

If they ever try on my kids , I make sure they will not have a happy ending.. I will bash that fellow up first before handing over to the police. Auntie will not be spared.

thats what I told my wife as well, if some one pulls your child away.

No 1 - WHACK first .... till he/she is down on floor

No 2 - WHACK again till bleeding

No 3 - Call Police, while waiting WHACK again

No 4 - See No.1
