Mai bo liao lah...Kidnapping kids? In the first place they kidnap for what? You are so rich and about to pay $1m ransom? If kidnap also must kidnap some rich kids right? In the first place they kidnap those neighborhood kids what they do with them? They know the parent's mobile number to call for ransom? How much can they pay? $10K or $20K? Worth it meh? Death penalty leh. Like that I think rob gold smith or money changer easier lah. If get caught also no need to die.

Hahaha, last time watch TV people kidnap for at most 400k. Imagine the amount of inflation and any lai sai condo could top $1m bucks, what worse, they are selling like hot cake. if I am the kidnappers, I would not be able to decide how much ransom I would need to collect to risk it so much.

Five people have been contacted by the police here for posting unsubstantiated information about child abductions on the Internet and by SMS.

They are currently assisting the police in their investigations into a series of online postings about alleged child kidnap attempts in the heartland.

A police spokesman said on Monday that they have investigated seven such kidnap reports over the past two weeks, and so far there has been no evidence to suggest an actual kidnap attempt.

'It is established that none are related cases, and the police confirm that there has been no reported case where a child was actually abducted or kidnapped,' she said during a press conference held by the police to update the public

Note that the FB postings all reported 'attempted kidnappings'. No actual kidnapping. So they can say whatever they want...and the police can't really do anything unless these people crack under pressure and admit to it. Or they find inconsistencies between the people and their wives/sis/sil and all.

And, finally, they MIGHT still be speaking truth. But I really doubt it. Singapore would be one of the worst place to carry out kidnappings. So easy to lock down the entire country.

and those people who received the hoax sms and then forwarded to the next person should also be fine.

Parents please take note

UWC and Tanglin Trust School send out alerts after kidnapping scare; police identify one suspect

SINGAPORE - Two international schools in the Dover area have alerted parents after two alleged attempts to kidnap their students in January.

The police confirmed to The Straits Times that two reports on the cases have been lodged and investigations are ongoing. The driver in one case has been identified and he is assisting with investigations, said a spokesman.

The first case on Jan 11 involved a United World College (UWC) South-east Asia Dover campus middle school student who was waiting for her bus along Dover Road.

In a letter seen by The Straits Times that was issued to parents by the school, UWC said that the girl was approached by a man driving a van, who asked the student to get into the vehicle.

"The student took exactly the right action: she did not respond, walked away in the opposite direction of the van, and informed a known adult," said the letter. She and her parents filed a police report that night.

The second incident took place on Tuesday (Jan 16) at 12.30pm. A female student from Tanglin Trust School was walking to school from one-north MRT station when she was approached by two people in a white van to get in.

A school spokesman told The Straits Times that she ignored them and continued to walk to school. The two occupants of the van then got out of their vehicle and continued to entice her but she moved away quickly and arrived at school safely.

The student reported the incident to school management, who informed her parents.

The student reported the incident to school management, who informed her parents.

The school later filed a police report, including a request for higher police presence in the vicinity. Tanglin Trust School is located about 2.5km away from UWC.

Both schools have sent out letters to parents about the incidents, while the children have been briefed on appropriate measures to keep themselves safe.
