After serving my car yesterday and when I started it early this morning, can hear the screeching sound of the belt. Open up the bonnet to check but do not know which one is screaming. And when I drive on.. the sound disappeared. It happen again if I rest the car for few hrs and start again. In this case what will you do ?

Any advise will be appreciated................

The mech may have accidentally left some oil or wet the the belt. Just monitor for a couple of days and see if you still hear the sound. Should be gone by then...if not earlier or already gone.

Was the belt changed? If not, u gotta change it.

Else, if u have just changed it, make sure it is tensioned properly.

Supercharged

what kind of ws did u go for servicing?

is it a dishonest one? the mech can easily tweak your belt so that u will go back again and he will charge you unnecessarily.

Wats ur ride? As mentioned by the others, it's usually the timing belt/chain.

Mine recently got weird sound when juz cranked engine in the morning. Not from belt but actually from the crank pulley. After engine is warmed up, the sound disappeared.

Hardly you will come across a mech that will wire brush or clean with emery cloth the vee pulley surfaces to remove rust, dirts & glazing coatings during the vee belt replacement and 99.9% will not even check the belt tension because they don't have such tool. It is a simple and fast job but due to lack of knowledge and rite tools it creat a bad image for the mech and some customers may just jump to conclusion the mech is all out to make more Vitamin M.

Just go to normal workshop (As AD need to make appointment and wait for at least 1 hr) and inform them the sound from belting and they'll tighten the idler pulley for you (Sound due to poor belt tension and you'll loose your power also).

check timing belt to see if it is not tightened properly.. ( if your car run on timing belt )

meaning.. if the timing belt can flex abit when being pull.. than the timing belt can further being tighten.

Lose timing belt may cause the screeching sound when cold start car.. as car is park for few hours and the gap may form a layer of rust.. than after drivng for short while the sound is gone..

its fan belt not timing belt.

if timing belts slips, get ready for top overhaul.....
