I fully concur, TS is sensible in considering a second hand car as he mentioned earlier. If that is really the choice, then I'd say $200K is a little over. It would be good to save the parents some money at this stage and have it as goodwill, if you like, for the next car.

 

errr, if someone were willing to spend $200k on a car, not for himself, but for his 18 year old kid, what makes you think he needs to save money? I bet he is overflowing with money! 200k, i concur, 2nd hand GTR. i envy you!

go sgcarmart. search all the brand new cars from cheapest to $300k. read the reviews, look at the pictures. make a list of those you think you may like. Ask your daddy to take you down to the various car showrooms one weekend and test drive all those in your list. viola~ you dun need us to tell you what you want, you can decide that for yourself.

My take on this is Lexus 250 for RWD and Legacy LNAR for 4WD. GTs are not for beginners, my opinion.

If got spare cash, get a weekend Copen for short drives, cheaper maintenance than above.

Get a used E46 M3. Plenty on the market right now and its quick and good fun. Much below 200k for the money and its 343bhp

Actually for a person who just got his license, it is wiser to get an old car to knock and scratch around for a year or two before getting a good new car.

 

This old car need not be powerful but ideally be big enough for your protection.
