Pinkypink Neutral Newbie February 16, 2010 Author Share February 16, 2010 thnks thinks..coz me looking at citreon dispatch... intending to buy..but hard to find review or maybe i will go test drive and post a review here i know what you mean, a lot of the magazines in Singapore are focused on passenger cars because the demand for light commercial vehicles is not as high. ooh yeah maybe you can do that and let us know what you think of it.. Pinkypink Neutral Newbie February 16, 2010 Author Share February 16, 2010 Well, what interests me are not just car reviews and/or comparisons in that particular class of cars. These stories have to be real, they have to tell the whole story! Including the negative aspects of the vehicle in mentioned, without being shy about it, without being afraid of the repercussions. What a really cannot stand to read are "advertorials"!! Stuff put into the magazine by car companies that "look" as if they were written by the magazine but were actually conceived by the company's PR department/people. It's kinda like "putting words in my mouth" ya know, like "that's not what I really want to say but because money talks, I'll say whatever you want me to say". Sometimes it's unavoidable, mags do what they do to survive, but I really can't be bothered with such manipulative reporting and will definitely flip over to the next page. A story about rare cars plying the streets of Singapore would be nice. I actually seen the DeLorean DMC-12 (Back to the Future) in Singapore and I believe I've also read a story on that car in some publication or other. But there's only so much reporting that can be done on a single car, what about a whole bunch of similiarly rare cars? Interesting? To me, hell yeah! For the longest time, we've been trying to seek out this very illusive gem: The distant predessesor to your ride, and the mother of all other Z cars since! Heard about one run-down example somewhere in the East, any news about finding that one would really be news to me and many other nostalgic car enthusiasts! (edit: picture swap) advertorials? but i think it's quite obvious that it is an advertorial..no? anyway you're not kidding... there is the mother Z in the East?! i live in the East but i haven't seen it before.. oh yes, i must hunt it down then, thanks for the tip. i did drive a 1968 VW Beetle two months ago (you can read more here: http://cheryl-tay.com/2009/12/31/the-fairl...nd-the-beetle/) and it really taught me what real driving is all about. it was quite an experience! Watwheels Supersonic February 16, 2010 Share February 16, 2010 What do we get in return for the ideas? Do members here get to read your stories first hand before it's published or must buy your company's car mag? If it's the later, why should ppl even bother? Already got threads on cheap & good car washes in SG & JB even. I go to the Caltex at Upp Thompson Rd. $4 & not bad. I tried a few $7 car wash but they were horrible. So not necessarily more ex means better.

Sky61 1st Gear February 16, 2010 Share February 16, 2010 well said. i would like to see more reviews on older car models, and the pains and details the current owners take to maintain a piece of automotive history on singapore roads. too many local car magazines featuring the same things together (new cars reviews, comparisons etc). I for one would certainly want to read about professionalism in journalism. Becos of the existence of internet it's easy to rip ideas off somewhere and write it as your own. The thing about journalism ethics, does it even exist anymore?

If it's the later, why should ppl even bother? whoa, you sound quite offended, did i do anything wrong? :( i'm just seeking out general opinions from MCF users. i'm sorry if you misinterpreted my post and am expecting some form of privilege for contributing your ideas, but you are not obliged to offer any ideas if you don't want to yeah? btw, i'm a freelance writer and hence do not represent any one magazine that i write for. as i said, i'm just trying to seek out stories/angles that people want to read about and hence the purpose of this thread. Nothing wrong with helping someone lah. All journalists get ideas from all over the place & put it all together to make a great story. Anyway she wil also pass what info she has which might also benefit us. So its just like we help each other for mutual benefit, right? Lets not b selfish. HehHeh! Beetle embodies what is means to be VW (people's car), driving one, even for awhile, is sure to be an experience to savour! About the Datsun Fairlady 240Z in the east? I've only ever had fragmented accounts, shrouded in myth and legend, of it's existance. Some say it's actually running around, others tell of it's demise at the hands of a reckless owner, yet there are those who claim to have seen it rusting away in some backyard, unloved and uncherished... If you find it, BUY it!!
