Due to the vastness of the universe, probabilty is very high that there are alien life forms.

 

But intelligent life form forming civilisation will have a much lower odds. Off all life form on earth, only we have formed intellegent civilization required for space exploration.

 

Civilizations do not last forever. Thousands of years, perhaps, before extinction, due to various reasons. Even a million years is only a blink in the age of the universe. This means, at least 2 advance civilization must exist within the same time frame, develop space travel technology to reach each other for contact. Rather unlikely.

 

When a civilization disappear, its very difficult to find in the vastness of space.

 

So I don't think we will be coming across aliens anytime soon. But I do agree if they find us, we are farks.
