Well yeah, but with regards to the engine of the K5, it's the same one used in the i45, Sportage and ix35. So I don't see where the "surprise" is.

I really do hope our petrol quality has reduced sulphur content, so the GDI powered cars can work properly here.

2.0 engine with 165bhp, 6 speed auto, PADDLE SHIFT, 18" alloy rims, dual airbags, keyless/push start ignition, daytime running LED, projector headlights, driver power seat with lumbar support and 2 memory seats, hill assist control, Eco Drive Mode, factory fitted bluetooth, auto light and rain sensor, 4 point reverse sensor with rear parking assist, Dual zone climate control with ioniser, factory fitted player with single CD but with USB/Ipod, cruise control.

edit: and notice the aluminium pedals as well.

 

all for OMV $17.5k and pricing of ~$115999.

 

 

it does not come with:

 

HID lamps, sunroof, supervision cluster meter, GPS, ventilated seats, reverse camera.

Why C&C not bring in the GDI version?

 

maybe it is to prepare for the next toyota camry to arrive bah. this model is almost 5 years old le, so a replacement is due. maybe when it comes, kia would then launch the SX version of this optima k5, equipped with supervision cluster meter, GPS, ventilated seats, reverse camera, and the 2.4 GDI with 200bhp for a better drive and a better looking interior.

 

i've read somewhere that the 2.0 turbo market is only meant for markets that regularly feature the V6 engine option of such cars. So i don't think we should dream about it, even though we want it badly.

Yes sir, it does come with rear aircon. But latest price is $114999 with immediate COE

I always believe seeing the actual thing will be better, the design of the dashboard is more to driver oriented.

 

IMO, I like the overall design of the vehicle. 6 airbags, HID and paranomic roof will make it a complete deal to me....

 

 

for me... just the paranomic roof will seal it.

 

 

of coz i'll quietly hope that the aircon vents look nicer like the forte.

The Kia brand that we know of now has changed dramatically.

 

And I believe that our drivers here still have that big car small engine mentality. If the Kia K5 were to have the turbo models, and full spec versions, it will really boost the image of Kia. It will no more be no-frills cheap car, but rather, a dependable, robust and somewhat mid-tier luxury brand, at least when compared to the Japanese.

 

God knows what the Japanese are doing with their car design and engineering now.

For your information, the 2.0 Theta turbo engine on Sonata and Optima are designed to replace their V6 counterpart. But then did you see any V6 engine mid-sized executive sedan on sale in Singapore?
