Kia K5

I almost bought an Aveo5 (which is already quite a new model) when I found out the the FC can drop below 10km/L.

On the other hand, a conti of similar spec can reach 15km/L easily (and I am getting 16km/L now)

My friend drive a Cerato also getting around 10km/L

of cos FC will largely depends on the driver and any modification, so i am looking at the average FC that are posted on the net, and the general sentiment that I gather is that korean car still have a lot to catch up in terms of FC

so which conti did u get?

noted that u omit details...

Fiat Punto?

VW Golf?

I think K5 is also competing against the "value-for-money" category. Honestly speaking given today's COE prices, K5 represents a very compelling option for a Cat B saloon car. Therefore it will be a viable competitor to any saloon in the same price range, be it Civic, i45, Mazda 3 2.0L etc.

In the segment of Accord 2.0, Camry 2.0, Mazda 3 2.0, Legacy 2.0, Tena 2.0

Korean cars (I45, K5) offer much more features, functions, power, 6spd gearbox...

On top of that, it's much competative in pricing...

Kudos to the Korean cars whom had made such a massive improvements over the years...

Btw, IMO i dun think korean cars are "cheaper &lousier" cars thats why they are priced lower....

Wait till a couple more years, i would expect korean cars to cost as much as the japanese make (due to high yen)

Right on Mike, these cars you mentioned are direct competitors but I think you made a typo error, it should be Mazda 6 2.0 and not Mazda 3.

Neutral Newbie

Think there's an unofficial one - same oval with a cursive K inside.

I've ordered the 7pcs "K" replacement emblem yesterday nite from ebay and saw a few other design for the K5 as well.

Don't get the wrong ones - there's one similar on China KingLong bus. [laugh]

I agree with point 1, but doesn't agree with point 3 at all. I thought that the rear seats were quite spacious!

The rest of the points are minor. End of the day, it is a Kia, not a Merc. I would be surprised if it doesn't have those little issues.

nah, the kneeroom is excellent, but its the rear footwell which is utterly useless. Forces you to sit with your thighs off the seat. much like sitting on the stool.

Yup, that was exactly my findings. Its got loads of kneeroom but footroom below the front seatrs is poor due to the low front seats.

Having a low sleek roofline, they have to set the seats low and as a result of the low front seats, rear footroom is compromised.

You can still fit your feet under the front seats( I wear a size 8) but you won't be able to move them around much.

Style comes will always come at the expense of space. CLS, Passat CC and coupe owners will know that.

i agree, my gf's integra gives about 8km/l

my current accord gives 12km/l with extra slow move off from traffic lights + super duper hot cause no aircon

otherwise it barely gives 10km/l

on the other hand my friend's avante gives 15km/l with aircon every now and then and 14km/l with aircon on all the way

integra and accord are not 1.6l leh..dont compare like that.

might as well said CheryQQ better fc.

i thk u mean mazda6 not mazda3...

as one bro mentioned, Kia needs to seriously change that logo or at least adopt the better looking "K" one

KIA logo not nice.

K logo not nice either, due to king long bus.

Better stick to the KIA for now till peter decided to come out with a new designed logo.

I've seen the Kia K5 in the flesh at the showroom.

I notice the front looks like a VW Scirocco? The side looks like the current Saab 9-5, the rear looks like a Jaguar XF.

Hmm.... copy here and there, and then price the car at $132,999??? Not a convincing job to me. I'll take the i45.

I when to the show room for a test drive today.

K5 is nicely done.

I will take K5 any time if my finance allowed.

Good Job to KIA.

Basic unit all sold out.

Left with high spec which is 10k more expensive.

I hate myself for being this poor.

:P
