GLZT 6th Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 I believe K5 will sell better than Soul. When Soul first launch, it get me a feel of funky car (don't like it). When Forte first launch, it get me a feel of decent car with a good price (owned it). When Forte Koup first launch, it let me feel that the forte is bring to a higher notch in design and style (wish to own this). When K5 unveiled, I feel that this car is impressive, stylish, luxury enough with the best price among its class (definately more than a BB car compare to my forte). price wise now... all car are expensive to me now... :P lucky i got my Forte early. Yeah, same sentiments. The soul was quite heavily marketed through advertisments, maybe they project wrong image to wrong target market. I have yet to see the K5 advertisments on TV yet. ↡ Advertisement
Ghostami 2nd Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 The K5 might be sellable, looking at the number of i45 on the road recently. Seems like quite alot of people are buying it.
Lucaswh 1st Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 I have the idea that K5 might attract the same group which will choose between 'sporty' but slightly uncle sedans such as the Mazda 6 and Toyota Mark X. K5 might look too radical for the uncle group who goes for safe looks like Camry or Teana.
Expertz 1st Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 really hard to accept paying so much for a korean car. the k5 will be the same. The price is close to a Civic 1.8 you have to be nuts crazy to pay 120k for a 1.8L civic 2 years ago 110k can get you a brand new honda accord
Friendstar Supercharged February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 look at the kia soul....launch so long already yet no many on the road. reason is they sell it so expensive. its really hard to accept paying so much for a korean car. the k5 will be the same. marketing of kia soul is very different. it is marketed as a lifestyle car aiming the young. practicality was thrown out of the window and that is the main drawback of the soul. K5 might look too radical for the uncle group who goes for safe looks like Camry or Teana. K5 is not as radically-designed as i45.The drive is slightly sportier than i45 according to Torque mag. It should prove a hit among young working professionals looking to buy the likes of JDM Accord or Mazda 6. Karnaugh Neutral Newbie February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 really hard to accept paying so much for a korean car. the k5 will be the same. The price is close to a Civic 1.8 On the contrary I would find it hard to accept paying so much for a Civic 1.8 instead. It is already 2011 and not 2001. Time to get out of shallow waters and go deeper beyond the brand.
Shouyi 3rd Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 I just taken a look at the K5 at Ubi. Interior plastics is definitely on par with the Japanese, even a VW Jetta. Didn't test drive the car though, so cannot comment on the drive. Overall, a good effort by Kia.
Spurman Supercharged February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 Mindset and more mindset to be instilled. In most countries, except Asia countries though, korean cars sells because not only it's great value, the features and design, hmm. So much better than most competitors in their same class. In Malaysia, mindset worse. Always BMW, mercs, then Toyota, then Honda then Nissan. Even if Korean have the better product now. Anyway, I am a staunch supporter or Hyundai nowadays, coz I own one which is pretty satisfying to me. I find it great value, looks good, drive experience is good. I drive an avante, and I am not going to trade for a altis or sunny or a patio anytime at all. Not even if i do not have to pay any extra for them. I will continue to drive my avante prob for 2-3yrs. And then lookin to upgrade to k5 or i45 next. Come on you Koreans

Yeah man, what's wrong with a Korean car as long as it is well made? At least it is made in Korea, not Thailand for example. Driving an Avante and liking it. Value for money as I bought it about 2 years ago when the price is really low. :)

Kt2u 1st Gear February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 Check out espn.com for the latest video on the Dunk contest... Blake Griffin jumped over a K5 (ok it's the hood only but still) before dunking the ball and won the contest!
Fresh Clutched February 20, 2011 Share February 20, 2011 unfortunately, it is mass market priced, and the mass market a-holes will drive it and spoil my impression of it.
