How to read this tyre pressure label?

They told me the recommendation of 230kpa in the manual is based on cold tires condition (aka without traveling prior to pump). If need to drive a distance to petrol kiosk under a hot day here...the tire pressure usually will increased for another 20~30kpa due to heat. So if pump under such hot tires condition 250~260kpa is recommended. In my case Iâm quite comfortable with 250kpa.

All recommended tire pressure are always “cold” tires. Unless you live at Lim Chu Kang, a petrol station isn’t that far away to make the pressures climb by 20kpa even on a hot day.

Anyway the fact that he used japan vs Singapore for tire pressures, I would already discount any further advice he would give. I would just smile smile and nod if I ever meet such a SA.

i do agree tire pressure increase as temperature rises in tire after driving for some distance. 

20~30kpa increase is the expected range as i experienced before.

My car svc manual recommended 230kpa but torkor SA told me tats for Japan. In local they recommend 260kpa.

 

japan weather in summer is hotter than singapore. no difference between japan and singapore please. 

 

ask your SA dont anyhow say if dunno. 

 

like all other bros/sis here recommend, just do recommended pressure. car manufacturer will already account for your full load when they design the car. they not so stupid one.

 

if you want a bit more fuel economy but less comfort on a sunny day, then pump a bit more (i usually pump another 20kpa over)

 

but if you pump over too much, like 270kpa or more, you will lose out on wet tyre performance since your tyre contact patch becomes too narrow, then it will be dangerous when u drive in the rain.

Just know that if the tyres are hot pumped during the hot part of the day after driving a short distance,  there is a chance that they could be under-inflated during the dark morning and cold rainy day.  Also take note that for hot pumped tyres,  the front and rear tyres may require different pressure (car dependent).

Aiya...whether Lim Chu Kang or Phua Chu Kang...20~30kpa abv recommended tire pressure is still acceptable la. The fact is I hv nvr come across any torkor SA that no need to give discount to their advice wan but this guy so far quite friendly and helpful so I rather keep a good relationship with him cos my car still under their warranty.

If your car comes with TPMS (those w individual pressure read outs), can observe the pressure changes from when you just pumped after a long drive and the next morning after starting the car and just driven for a few hundred metres. The difference can be as much as 20-30kpa.

 

So I usually compensate by pumping about 20kpa more than the recommended pressure when I pump at the kiosk after a long drive....ie hot tires.

Bro how come yours is so Low?

 

Mine is 260 front 250 back from the label at the car door.

 

I pump 270 front 260 back first thing in the morning since the you pong is only 500m away.

 

Like what Vratenza mentioned, on hot days, it can go up by 30kpa.

I have been using electric pump to pump air at MSCP.  Zero movement.

Usually when fully laden, the rear pressure recommended to go up disproportionately to the front. This is because the max is 2 pax while the rear is 3 pax and trunk/boot full of luggage/cargo.

 

Note 1: the Tire Pressure Cold Tires

 

Note 2: Warm tires to add up to +30kPa

 

So for my purpose, I usually pump after a long drive to the kiosk, so I will usually just pump 260kPa front and 280kPa rear to control/adujust the vehicle handling based on my staggered 20" non-RFT. Play around with the pressure to achieve the road holding characteristic to your liking.

I would think it’s is also a function of the tire aspect ratio . His is 55 profile. Yours is 40?

 

Maybe Lexus wanted a smoother ride for the ES?

Ya, am on 225/40 square.

 

Still resisting the staggered setup as the same as stock, cos it's too expensive.

His stock load index is 93.  At 230, load capacity is 540kg per tyre.

 

Your stock load index is 88.  At 260, load capacity is 495kg per tyre.

 

You need to look at load index to see the diff. 

 

When you replace stock tyre, tyre pressure needs to be according to the change in load index.

It is not a function of aspect ratio.

 

Rather, it is load index.
