Why directasia car insurance so cheap?

Direct Asia is VERY selective about who they insure. I declared two incidents in last three years. They were not even claims as no claim was made for either. In the first, I was not at fault and the other driver's employer paid for the relatively small repair cost. The second is currently under dispute as Aviva repudiated my claim. So again, even though I wish to claim, Aviva did not allow me to. So no claim. Despite this, Direct Asia told me their underwriters had decided I was too risky to insure. What is ironic is that Direct Asia also refuses insurance for people who have had inurancve refused. So by refusing me insurance for no good reason, if all companies had their policy, I would not be able to get insurance at all. It is simply crazy.

Exactly my experience. I basically lodged a 3rd party claim ions ago..in 2008. And they used it against me and say I am "risky" and refused a renewal on my of my cars. c--k.

I'm with DA leh, I had 1 accident claim in the last 3 years (last year actually...). They came back with a quote of 1.4+k for 0% NCD, the next cheapest quote is from AXA at 2k...

I have a friend who was insured with DA. Car and policy under dad's name but she was driving and got into accident. DA refused the claim, refunded her premium and denied any responsibility.

Surely, the meaning of "insurance" is lost.

I would recommend going for the more established companies. Of course, due diligence required.

oh! can complain!!!

i also have the same problem with DA!!!

i have 2 accident during 2009 - 1) feb 2009 - hit from back, no ncd lost, claim others & 2) sept 2009 - 50/50, till now no result who win who lose..

i renewing my insurance this May 12, so the feb 2009 accident is over 3 yrs period right?

DA send me a renew letter of 1.85k when i go to their website, they offer me 1.5k for 20% ncd.. why got different de?????

Good luck bro. I am fortunate one of my cars still with AXA. The 2nd and 3rd, one declined by DA this year. The 3rd one I will remove and transfer to AXA.

Enough of DA... one of the forumer who is with DA is right....even a report with no claims is constituted a report and they will hold it against u. What silly rules.

wow ..own so many cars ?

i guess its better to spread the risk and use wife or parents name for 2nd . / 3rd cars to prevent such issues next time ?

hi,

my car ins is under Direct Asia & main driver is my husband. However, we did not noticed the clause that other named drivers (under the age of 30) gotta b named if we allow them to drive. My husband allowed his fren to drive & ended up into trouble

He banged onto 1 car which in turn caused that car to bang into the 1st car (meaning our car was the last one).

1) So in this case, the insurance company doesn't allow us to claim at all & I think we have to fork out our own $ to pay, am I right??

2) If this is the scenario, are we still able to sell off the car?

Beware. There are no free lunches in this world. DA and Aviva are not really good insurers. Take it from me. I have been using them for my cars. And one of it is due for renewal. Guess what? They sent me a registered letter telling me I have been declined.

When I called their hotline, they told me is because I have 1 third party claim which I lodged on my other vehicle. When it is a 3rd party claim and is successful, it is not my fault. BUT, they took that as u r accident prone! Thats exactly why you take out a car insurance policy in the first place. Why should I be penalised when it is clearly not my fault?

As their website suggests, they only insure SAFE drivers...ie. read between the lines. NO ACCIDENTS prior or when u r with them. Then u can be assured u CAN be insured with them.

My suggestion, avoid DA at all COSTS.

I also had the same situation with you,55% NCD and yet kanna loading becos they say I high risk driver. Even windsreen claim consider as 1 claim, before you insure they tell you this and that can,but the moment you had an accident they will void your policy giving all sort of excuses.

If can avoid at all cost

put it this way, different insurers have different risk profiling... whether they want to deal with you is a matter of their choice.

So there is no need to be agitated if they refuse to insure you.

Likewise, you as a consumer is free at will to choice from the remaining insurers.

actually my experience with DA a bit different .

3 years ago, my wife got into accident with my car a BMW 320.

Following year, DA also offered me, despite the accident, but price was high.

Then within the same year i changed car, to the then-new model Volvo S60 T5.

So for the past few years, DA although i got quote from them every time, was consistently more expensive.

Like this year, My NCD is back to 40%, their quote was $300 more than Aviva.

My car is bone stock, so Aviva is fine for me.

So i think the title is kinda misleading. DA in my limited experience is not the cheapest.

I just check checked, about the same as my current insurer - India Insurance. So not going to bother. India Insurance quite OK.

Cheap does not mean good. Please read all the fine prints carefully before taking up the policy! I ditched it because of this!

It looks like you have to fork out the $$$ and you should be able to sell the car

Hypersonic

I don't see anything wrong with Directasia in this case. They did state clearly that drivers under 30 must be named so if you didn't do it then something happened, you blame it on them?

Doen't make sense to me.

yup. just get online quotes from DA and compare it with others of the same coverage.

despite claiming to have cut away the middlemen, they are still a tad more expensive.

better to shop around and compare.
