Need to up the profile to maybe 45 or 50 to keep the outer circumference similar.

205/45 18 is difficult to find.

Mini JCW use this size.

downsize shd b 18 go 17. not reduce width. your odo wil b off, your tyre well gap will look bigger. load rating also lower as smaller tyre. 

if its for fc or noise reasons, the effect will b small. better u stick to correct size and choose quiet comfort tyres.

I didnt expect reducing juz the width could hv so much implication. Well, I actually wanted to hv lower road noise, better FC and improve power since logically the weight is reduced. 😁

I paid $270/pc for PSS in 2015.  Size: 205/45 17

PSS is slightly cheaper at $240.

PSS sidewall as hard as RFT.  PS4 sidewall softer.

be it thin or broader tyre, the area of contact on the tarmac is the same.

 

choose a less aggressive pattern tyre and not into lower profile tyre will ensure a quiet ride.
