RadX Moderator October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 My uncle/auntie adopted a baby many years ago...when they were childless after years of marriage. After adoption, few years later...my auntie gave birth a daughter and another son.. A sad ting is the adopted boy dunno dat he is adopted..he keep asking his adopted parents y he dun have his father name behind when the rest of his frds have.. Now the boy is aredy in JC and dunno dat he is adopted..i tink it will be earth shattering if he was to know the truth. hmmm..but why do they not pass the name as per nromal??? anyway, it is good to tell the kids early and let them know.....some may feel shocked, but it is a load off your chest i still remmeber my late fadder telling me when i was on a bus on the way to hospital...and i just asked 'simi si adoption?'......years later, when i understood, somehow it did not make a difference as the ppl who raised me, are my real parents... my sis, however, also adopted, somehow did not take it too well, and to this day still questions....she is in a mess though...and well, i can only give her support as a brudder ↡ Advertisement
Yattokame 4th Gear October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 The funny thing abt my aunty was, when I visited her in hospital last year, she could not recognise us. But she could vivdly remember going to KKH and picked us up. She cant remember the present things but remembers of the past as if it was yesterday. that episode probably meant a lot to her and is etched in her long term memory. newer memories aren't. I cant remember. Thatz not important lah. But knowing the truth early really helps. Cos if anyone ask why no father, I can say I am adopted. No need to go back home to mummy and ask her why. I think i can attest as when told early, you are beginning to face life, and it helps to know the truth early, as tehre are not many stresses in your early years of life
Mazdaowner Moderator October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 My wife and myself have "adopted" a young girl, since she was 9yrs old, no legal papers, but we provide for her education and such, parents we know, were not well to do. She's now 24yrs old, and comes and visit us ever now and then, calls us "Mum and Dad" (god parents so to speak) we never had daughters, all sons, her mum passed on 8 years back, father is not working now, being very old. She's working already, providing for her father. Wife and me never expect anything from them or her. You might want to explore this option. thanx for the links! Very informative! was just speaking to some of my colleagues. most of them frown upon adoption; be it those with kids or their own or singles. but will still explore the option later on in life. Mazdaowner Moderator October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 Bear in mind one thing. Don't expect anything thing in return. Some people will be grateful, some a little, and most, none. Wife and myself never expected any returns, only thing was to give the child a chance in life. We didn't choose, it came to us. Even now, if she chooses to change her mind, it won't bother us either. yeah that works fine too. :) I just hate all those redtapes.

Mazdaowner Moderator October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 Bro. when we embarked on this, both of us, never expected any returns. Same with karma, if it comes, it comes, if it doesn't, it doesn't. Expect the unexpected. One thing is, she's very close to my boys and sister, she's only one year older then my eldest, no lah, cannot lah, I wish, my boys really treat her as a older sister. Again, we never expected anything in return. Maybe now, I have one more to cry when I pass. your rewards would come in different ways...i believe..KArma has a way of doing the necessity....
