MAZDA 6

Thats precisely why I said TEK sales was honest. He was upfront in admitting their after sales + service centre sucks. Ask me go outside service better.  [laugh]

After much consideration, I have made a booking for the Mazda 6 this week. I guess this is the lowest it will go.

However, hearing about the poor aftersales service and subpar service centre makes me worried. Is it really so bad? Any advice on how can I deal with this?

Would going to outside workshops be better - if so, any recommended Mazda specialist workshops?

Dun just listen. Go to their service centre and experience it. After that, make a decision

Will do. However, would think there is some truth in the views and experiences numerous people have shared.

Always better to be prepared, even if the preparation is only psychological.

Be prepared for a crowded service centre until the new one opens in about 2 month's time.  If you book your service timeslot well ahead of time you will save yourself some of the frustration.  They are all very busy because the success of their sales was not anticipated.  I think the Leng Kee centre is better.

My super-fussy wife (hope she doesn't read this) goes to the Leng Kee service centre eventhough her car ran out of the free service period.  She has no major complaints and said it was much much better than the other car brand she used to own.  I agree.  I was not impressed with my own former car's service centre as well but was impressed by the Mazda's Leng Kee service centre.  In fact it is one of the decision factors that made me choose Mazda 6.  The others are FC, price, drivability, and the new engine design.

Probably will get my new M6 this week. I am thinking of following up with some works at some reliable workshop.

1) Auto door/window lock

    - Any idea where can I get this setting done? How much?

2) Parking mode setting for the blaupunkt car cameras

    - Any idea where can I get this setting done? How much?

Instead of adding a battery, is it possible to have something like blackvue Power magic instead that cuts

off the electric supply to cameras if supply exceeds limits?

3) 360 all round cameras

   - would like to have this feature add due to the car size and because my wife is not good in parking [:p]

Any idea where can I get this installed? How much?

Thanks.

Update on the petition (http://chn.ge/2DnjGX5) requesting Transeurokars to enable the Auto-lock feature.

Hi All,

My apologies for the late reply as I have been very busy lately. Anyways, an update to our petition to Transeurokars is as follows:

In response to the petition, I received a call from the Service Manager of Transeurokars on 6th of Feb 2018, and spoke with the Workshop manager about the absence of this feature in our cars. The Workshop manager claimed that Mazda cars that are imported into Singapore follow European regulations which require this auto-lock feature to be removed (even though no Singapore regulations call for the removal of this feature). Therefore, this feature has been Geo/Region locked in the CMU of our cars and the Lock/Unlock button has been replaced with a power window On/Off button.

The Workshop manager’s advice was to “.. use the door knob lock which is available whenever you enter the vehicle.”; However, taking into account the safety risk involved, the manager did promise to write to Mazda HQ requesting for their assessment of the feature enablement (reverse the Geo/region lock in the CMU)  via software code.  A week later, Mazda Corp replied that they are unable to guarantee that any modifications to the software will affect other systems, and also recommended that passengers remember to lock doors before driving off.

I found the reply from Mazda HQ very irresponsible, especially as this is a safety issue. Therefore, two weeks ago, I had met up with the GM, the Svc Mgr & the Workshop Mgr of Mazda Singapore to talk about the reluctance of Mazda engineers to explore a viable solution. The Workshop Mgr shared their constraints that they are not able to make any changes without the consent of Mazda Corp; However the Svc Mgr promised to write directly to the Mazda Corp management to explore the proposed solution (of the Auto lock feature enablement via software configuration).  She was not able to give me a definitive timeline as to when Mazda corp would get back to his query. (Could possibly take up to 6 months, as the R&D is quite busy). She has promised to keep me posted on any development.

So that’s the update for now. Hope to hear some good news in the near future.

Btw, new Mazda models (Cx5 and M2) come with the Auto lock feature enabled :/

I understand many of you are upset and one of the owner was affected personally because of the autolock function.

What if there is autolock and someone died because of the autolock malfunction.

Would the petition change to remove autolock?

I think ultimatley, we have to constantly remind ourselves not to let our guards down and lock our cars bah.

Also just write to the authorities for more clarity as well.

The European rules to disable auto-lock is probably due to safety considerations; i.e. it is safer without the auto-lock than with it.  Personally I think Mazda should give the driver the choice.  However it is very hard to argue with the Eurocratic civil servants about such things.

hi all

i was reading up on Mazda and i understand that there was an issue with the istop in the mazda cars whereby it sort of drains off the battery in the car.

could i check if this is still the case? Some have even resorted to disabling the istop all together
