Blueray Hypersonic March 16, 2018 Share March 16, 2018 I read that the Toyo tires are a big cause of the noise levels. Does anyone have any recommendations on what brands of tires to change to? Do people change tires once they collect their car? Never noticed the noise levels during test drive. Maybe because the SE turn on the radio. Yes, I did that for my previous cars. Collect from AD and drive straight to tyre shop to swap tyres. All negotiated in advance of course. ↡ Advertisement

chrishth Neutral Newbie March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 Hey guys, does anyone know if we're able to change the units of fuel economy reading in the multi-information display from L/100km to km/L?
Bluesky2011 1st Gear March 19, 2018 Share March 19, 2018 You are thinking of using the apps on the display?Maybe. It's good if can project the content on the car display. Of cos won't be browsing during driving, but when idling in car.
Notsogoodman 4th Gear March 19, 2018 Share March 19, 2018 How much engine / tyre / road noise did it reduced with the sound proofing you did? Really quiet cabin now?I don't have a device to measure the decibels.... Based on my ears, there is a slight improvement, sound more muffled but road noise still evident on coarse roads 6 pieces of mats on 4 doors and 2 front fenders don't stop sound that comes in from undercarriage... For me, the real benefit is the opening and closing of the doors. Doors are heavier and now sound more solid when opening and closing

The door that you mod don't give you the safety content. The most is the give you virtual emotional security. Anyway Mz6 door is heavy enough la. retiredman 1st Gear March 19, 2018 Share March 19, 2018 by the way, does the NVH issue with Mazda 6 happen in the other Mazda models like M3, CX etc? if it is, then i feel that it should not be an issue because so many people would be experiencing it. Previously NVH was a big issue on the CX-5 (2013 model) as Mazda had focused on the driving dynamics and neglected NVH. As a result it lost some sales and gotten some complaints. So for the 2017 CX-5, major improvements were made, there are some youtube videos showing the crazy extent of what they did to reduce noise. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2017/03/how-the-2017-mazda-cx-5-became-so-quiet.html I think the new Mazda 6 will be quieter as they have better technology to control NVH now.

It is not about emotional appeal, it is about sensory. Mazda 6 doors ain't too light, it just doesn't shut nice enough to my ears... spend money to make the door heavier? Heavier door is a byproduct of adding the sound deadening mat to the door... Both benefits of noise reduction and a more solid thump sound when closing the door Edited March 20, 2018 by Notsogoodman

Maybe in the 80s your theory is definitely correct. Auto makers have try to make cars as light as possibleDifferent stroke for different people... Like I said earlier, it depends on what we are used to. I was a driving a Mondeo before I changed to the Mazda 6, Mazda 6 doors sound hollow (though it is not that bad among its stable mates) Like my friend said, when we are exposed to something quieter, more powerful, more soft touch for a certain period; our sensory gets pampered. I had a Mazda 3 & a Mazda 6 before the Mondeo and I didn't feel them noisy... But after the Mondeo, Mazda feels noisy... But luckily, improvements can be made to noise... Things like Steering feel & handling can't be changed aftermarket, and that is what a Mazda is good for Edited March 20, 2018 by Notsogoodman ↡ Advertisement
