Hey folks..

Mzd6 Exec soon-to-be owner here.. Was watching the price since Dec 16 when I followed colleague to test drive. Held back from buying since my car was doing great and still had time left at its low depre. The SE (KT) from Leng kee was quite good. From then, every time the price dropped he'd just send me a message with the new lowest pricing. After 15months of engaging me at intervals, he got the sale..

Booked the car on Sat at 113k (nonG) and just got confirmed an Open Cat COE. Collecting next Friday.. Switching from a Lancer GLX(M) that has served me amazingly well for almost 10 full years but am now looking forward to the new car!

Btw, any special things to take note of for collection?

This is the new car checklist that you can refer to. Frankly I didn't use it when I collected new car but I did do some checks later slowly as it is under warranty.

Thanks @ER-3682, @andrewyewkc! Looks like there's quite abit of due diligence that can be done. To think I just took my Lancer and drove out straight away after signing the necessary 10 years back with 0 checking. thankfully nothing amiss.

@dna_engine, I saw that you had a comment on who the SE was. I'm abit noob to this forum so couldn't figure how to respond to the comment itself. The SE was this chap called KT Chang. Friendly, not too pushy, din give any attitude like some SEs at other ADs + quite patient to take my father and then my wife through all the details of the car when I brought them down to let them test drive too.

So far I have good impression of the Mazda's SEs that I come across, usually experienced (ex-BMW, CnC, etc), knowledgeable, can give valuable inputs and compare strengths and weaknesses, humble and patient, etc. Some ADs the SE only want to sell and knows very little.

I just pumped petrol this morning and made the latest update of my fuel consumption record which I've been maintaining since the first pump:

There were occasional calculations across 2 fills when I forgot to reset the trip meter after the first fill.

Neutral Newbie

Hi,

Collecting my car soon but it comes with factory fitted halogen lights (Standard Edition). Have a few questions about headlights which I hope the experienced bros here can shed some light on.

Basically I would like white light for my headlights, so I am considering either:

a) Philips Diamond Vision Halogen (I know not LTA legal)

b) LED Conversion Kit 5000k to 6000k colour (also not legal since mine is stock Halogen)

1) Is installation and de-installation (when going for vehicle inspection) easy for LED conversion kits.

2) I am concerned about the heat generated from both options. Would it melt any wires or cause headlight casings to crack etc, or worse still if there is any fire, electrical short circuit risk?

3) I read that LEDs have poor throw. But since I only drive in SG where there are street lamps almost everywhere, is this a key factor to take into account?

4) For either option, do I need to change something called the projector lens?? Or just plug and play.

5) What is the penalty by LTA / TP if we they issue a summon for illegal headlights?

My daily commutes comprise roughly 80% expressway, though heavy traffic and jams are not uncommon during my commutes at morning and evening peak hours on weekdays.

@Daniel0606 I've not ventured into Malaysia so far in this car.

@SuPerBored I believe it helps that both my wife and I are light-footed in our driving behaviors. I find that the meter FC readings mostly outperforming actual average FC calculations.
