Thanks for all the replies; was eyeing the 2.5 T cos of the YouTube reviews; guess need to test drive to see....trying to decide between the 2.5 Mz 6 and Stinger GT line....both interiors good enough for me but GT line has higher power with more

maintenance vs 2.5 NA Mz6... of course other diff such as FWD vs RWD don’t really matter.... choice would have been easier if 2.5T available

Of course, I am not exactly comparing apples to apples but primary concern is the interior and exterior is good with good/ decent handling and power

Fwd vs rwd should matter as it affects the characteristics of the car.

Is the price comparable? When I bought the M6 wagon, the Stinger was 12K more. I would have gotten the Stinger if it was slightly cheaper.

Supercharged
(edited)

Specifications and features in the latest Mazda 6 Executive variant that caught my eyes in comparison with the 2017 model:

Pros:

1) New front grille

2) Piano black garnish

3) Windscreen type HUD

4) Brake auto hold

5) Smart city brake

6) Pedestrian brake

7) Lane departure warning

8) Drive-away auto door lock

9) USB port in centre armrest of rear seats

Cons:

1) Poorer FC at 6.8 l/100km (compression ratio 13:1, kerb weight 1,515kg) compared with 5.9 l/100km (14:1, 1,472kg)

2) Slightly slower acceleration from 0 to 100km/hr at 10.8s compared with 10.5s

3) Film trim for instrument panel and door trim, rather than soft leather wrapped (this may be subjective, but I prefer leather)

4) Less shoulder room at front 1420mm and rear 1400mm compared with 1450mm and 1410mm respectively

5) Less ground clearance at 125mm compared with 165mm

Only pro items 3-5 would matter to me, though at the expense of poorer FC and tighter shoulder room. I wonder if TEK will now enable the drive-away auto door lock for the 2017 model as well.

No not cheaper... just that both within the same price range; both cars look handsome...

To me it summarise as in poorer fc with smaller space. No wonder the price drop.... Mmm...

Still i will take the newer model even if the older is available with same price. Who wants a older model anyway?

the poorer fc may possibly be due to better soundproofing materials and chasis. interior improvements are also noticeable so it's not just a simple facelift.

with a price that is comparable to a lower tier altis and civic, price is hard to beat in the segment.

quote from carbuyer. com:

Major update to the Mazda 6 large sedan: Cylinder deactivation tech, improved safety, redesigned interior and more..

"There have also been chassis improvements, with Mazda claiming improved NVH control, plus better ride quality and handling. The steering rack is now mounted to the chassis more rigidly, for better feel and response."

Mar 2016 registration... was put off and decided not to upgrade...

You are not alone. Many ppl are stuck with their cars which they had bought during high COE time. 2013 to 2017. Those who will benefit are first time buyers and those with 10yr old or coe renewed cars.
