I thought the 2018 version comes with auto lock?

 

Istop just press the button every time drive off to disable.

Good to know 2018 version may come with autolock but unlikely as this is european requirement ... hope bros with 2018 can advise.

 

Press stopstart button not preferred if possible.

I remember the car auto lock when start driving. The function should be default setting.

How to combine with auto hold? I like the auto hold at traffic light so that can relax my foot.

Not sure if not press firm, the auto hold will be activated.

Yes ... some cars works but still intermittently switching on the stop-start.

 

Prefers permanently have this disable and seems from the german blog that bonnet sensor trick also works which will be great ... will do so if carousell seller's solution does not since his solutions seems quite a bit more.

Interesting video below which unfortunately 2.5T is not available in Singapore albeit not sure if needed in city driving as mentioned by reviewer on low rpm high torque of this engine selection:

 

 

Believe the same NVH improvement are made with the 2018 2.0l and 2.5L NA for more refined ride available locally and hope alleviate some previous review of pre 2018 FL version.

This is not an uncommon way to disable the stop-start permanently with disabling the bonnet sensor switch and glad to hear that it may work ... have at least some hope then :)

Found the same "solution" on the web a while ago. There is one article stating what tools to prepare and step-by-step way to disable the sensor at bonnet. The sensor is the tell the system that bonnet is open and car under maintenance.

My concern is this tricked the system by thinking the car under maintenance.

To the system, could maintenance = not moving? I not sure.

Some safety feature might not work under maintenance? Could air-bag be activated in event of accident is one of my concern.

So I choose to press off the start-stop for now.

Indeed and same concern on loss of safety feature with further comment below and hence prefers the carousell seller's solution if it works together with access to other lock up features that he seems to get out of the pre 2018 mazda 6.

 

At worse case, I will still do the bonnet mode since work for many cars without impact on safety features that must throw out errors if indeed affected like my nissan qashqai 1.2l that does not work with this bonnet trick.

For latest buyers of 2018 facelift aka FL m6 being offered now, this get a bit more complicated and known as GL.II

May help when you google for modification parts since fitting may not be the same especially with reported NVH improvement including suspension system etc. and unfortunately no usual taobao parts since they are still with previous versions and have to try my usual Yahoo! Japan or Rakutan Japan via Sendico or MailOrderJapan.

 

Please also note that this is an old platform but admirable that they had improved some much before expected launch of new platform aka total change like current Honda and Camry ... and think they better do so as sales are diminishing.

As Richard pointed out, the parts listed on carousell or other websites cater to 2017 and earlier and I’m sure some parts might not fit the 2018 version. Am thinking of a few upgrades but unless I buy them direct from japan if not might be difficult to source

Seems little mods available which may also be reason why I find a bit more quiet here as compared to forester and qashqai threads here that I participate for good info and learning.

 

I do like gadgets along being an audiophile while having given up on computer stuff after laptops and tablets grew leaps and bound in last decade.

 

Started my "Mazda 6" folder yesterday after booking the Mazda Atenza GL.II on googledrive for reference but believe no chance if even getting 20% of mods like the one for my forester fxt below for some fun reading if bros need to read to sleep on what I had done with 25k saved (and a bit more) after giving up on harrier turbo about 1 yr ago:

Removing of roof rack, external deblack of usual rugged aka cheap looking SUV black black plastic trims, swapped sti wrx seats, rear aircon modification missed, ICE installation, soundproofing to near lexus level (yes, possible !) etc. are some of the modifications to my fxt that I am most pleased with .. as a 56 yr old uncle from merc gen .. lol !

I think the I-eloop is only available on the 2.5L.

 

I can't tell how much fuel it saves though.

Any new 2018 owners can confirm this? Think The TEK brilia coating only on car body but not the sunscreen/windows. Drove in the rain just now, but no beading effect on the windscreen.

I'm driving the 2018 mazda 6 and found the istop to be quite controllable. If I gradual brake and keep a light pressure on the brake pedal, the istop doesn't activate. It activates when I put a firmer pressure on the brake. It works like that so far and I kinda like it.

Yup, driving a Maz2018 and agree it's manageable thru brake pressure.

Actually the 2.5l version is very affordable if buying 2nd hand. Same depreciation as 2l version.

2018 version (confusingly version GL in Australia and still GJ in Japan and USA) also see some nice improvement especially on NVH and supension setup which reportedly make it more refined but guess more subtle than any obvious breakthrough.

 

If it is 2.5T used, it would be different matter .. I will take it and pass fxt to wife ...keke !

Yup, driving a Maz2018 and agree it's manageable thru brake pressure.

I will try bonnet sensor mod if carousell seller' solution does not work.

all Mz6 models have "drive away autolock"

Dun even have smart lock to open and lock without fob remote.

Any new 2018 owners can confirm this? Think The TEK brilia coating only on car body but not the sunscreen/windows. Drove in the rain just now, but no beading effect on the windscreen.

Brilla coating only for paint job.

 

Btw, I do not recommend coating windscreen .. streaking will appear after typical 6 mths.

 

Even stock windscreen glass also get scratched after a few years and su h coating stand no chance.

 

I was somehow glad that my coated windscreen cracked and was replaced but never will coat my windscreen again.
