Hi Mazda6r,

When did you place your order back then?

I also secured my COE in August, arrival date of my car still unknown. Not much info given from SE. Keep telling me to wait. Original collection from early Sept, pushed to end Sept, then now push to maybe end Nov!

Feel like filing a complaint to CASE already.

Hi Facade, I placed it in late July. So far I received no other update since placing the deposit

Hi Andrew,

Yes, the mazda 6 is the replacement of her qashqai 1.2l.

However, I foresee that I will driving the mazda 6 over the weekend more often than I did the 1.2l qashqai .. mazda 6 was the only car that I test drove 2mth back that made me feel bad going back to the fxt for its interior ..keke !

Cheers.

Richard

I think you made an excellent choice. I test drove the 6 wagon and I was super impressed by the handling and interior, better than some premium continentals.

Worth doing trade in with TEK?

I think it is worth to trade in as this is one area they can give in if you bargain very hard.

For those that brought Mz6 looking for quite and comfort and thinking that it is about the same as Camry,

Pls refer link for comparison :

If no time to see whole video, skip to the end of video at 16mins mark onwards for summary.

The drive characteristic for both cars are very different.

My ride previous and current ride are Mz6.

Hi Pat,

Seen this but as usual, do take them only for reference only especially some BS from local ADs on "best car of the year XXXX" which I learnt getting the honda odyssey decades ago as it was completely different car from the USA one that achieved the award back then ... lol !

On this review, these are different 2.5l variants being compared and the current FL mazda 6 is also a little bit different ... 2.5l makes a lot of differences in drive, engine noise, handling etc.  but yes, the new 2.5l camry will be nice except its price and then again, pending hybrid option will also be another different animal.

Heck, even same 350Nm in Harrier Turbo and Forester xt are completely different in more recent times .. and I bought the Forester xt.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Andrew,

Thanks but guess it will be a different and inferior ride but hopefully not too much with the mazda 6 executive booked ... the mazda 6 wagon is 2.5l and was not willing to stretch the budget for another 20k+ I think or the maintenance for monday-friday drive to work by wife who wun appreciates the upgrade enough.

Yes, somehow the guideline of getting the best of the worst is still getting the worse of the best since mfgrs still put in efforts on their statement products ...  A3 and Q2 though me that and certainly worse than my forester xt even at stock and now absolutely no comparison.

Truth is that it was the price and the luxurious interior together with the safety toys in the executive model that sealed the deal against the wish of getting a SUV but the CX5 was a tad more noisy and wife din like the higher than usual dashboard that she struggled with since long legged but short body in her case.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Richard

Understand the video for reference only.

Hope to highlight this issue for those booked and waiting for their ride to adjust expectation.

And appreciate the drive which Mazda engineers trying to achieve within the cost of a mid size sedan segment.

Cheers.

Personally I will avoid getting the entry level models like A3 or Q2 as there will be engineering compromises. The 6 is definitely much better bang for buck and better handling compared to the CX-5.

Mazda 6 standard?

I ordered the 2.5l sedan, decided to stretch a bit for a slightly more shiok ride for 10 years. I think can only really feel the difference when test drive one after another or going up slope with a heavy load. But helps that the wife prefers the 2.5l, so buy that got more peace and quiet for 10 years haha

Chase the SE for the delivery date.

I just texted him this morning to get updates, now still waiting for him to come back with updates

Good choice on the 2.5L. When I was tried both my conclusion was that 2.5L is quieter due to the engine having to work less hard during acceleration. The pick up especially in sports mode is good.

The main gripe with mine is the 19 inch rims feeling more harsh than the 17. But 19 looks much better so it's a trade off.

Other extras like sun roof are really just good to have...

The drive characteristic for both cars are very different.

My ride previous and current ride are Mz6.

I am going to be honest in my judgement of this segment of vehicles. Cars in this cat which i classify last time were.

1. Camry

2. Teana/cefiro

3. Sonata

4. Passat

5. Accord

Only frm the last mazda 6 do i put it up with this boys.

Usually ppl who buys these vehicles look more for comfort. Space. And a bit of towkayish feel.

Camry had the best overall of comfort. Unclish towkay feel. The cefiro also had that though resale value was a tad bad then. I did had a cefiro for 3yrs. And till now my dad feels cefiro had the best seats. Hmm though i personally liked the volvo s80 seats best.

Accord got that drivbility then.

Anyway these r all the mid late 2000s. Early 2010s. A good 10yrs ago feel..

Since then these cars looks more "young". Whist camry became more boxy but still retain a bit of towkayish feel. Perhaps the default beige interior helps to bring this feel.

The late 2000s accord was styled nicely. A bold move away from the mid 2000s sonata/camry liked feel.

Sonata also became i45 and looks much younger.

The passat became more popular suddenly perhaps due to the rise of the contis.

And the prev gen mazda 6 in late 2013 i tink suddenly made me tink mazda has finally done good in this segment.

It looks bigger. And handles well.

And right now i tink it offers the best value. No doubt the price plays a huge part. I mean come on. 105k for a car measuring more than 4.8mtrs now is a good price.

Camry by bm still the last gen model. Though we see pi starting to sell the new model.

Accord i tink no longer sold by km at moment. But was ard 130k plus.

Passat. Lowest spec also 128k thereabout.

Sonata also ard 115k.

I tink mz6 would be pretty much more value for money now

Hi Spurman

Your observation is correct.

Only now that Mazda has upped the game and become a possible contender due to value for money that I would like to highlight the different in drive, noise and comfort level.

My opinion for 2017 model, for those looking for towkay look (yes and no, subjective), for those expecting quiet and comfort ride (still no there yet).

Hope 2018 model has vast improvement.

Having own 5 used car past 2 decades and present new car, driven the previous Mz6 for 7years. Like the way the car handle on the road as a normal priced sedan car.

In fact, there is a different in the front suspension. For the previous model has double wishbone that make handling much sharper than current Macpherson strut settle up.

No in depth knowledge about suspension, just my observation.

Cheers.
