hi,

my car is due for full inspection on the coming mar.

first, i lost the paper. (do i need to inform LTA to tell them to resend?)

second, mine is an opc, so only full inspection on 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th year whereas the remaining only for seal.

third, since this is my first full inspection (2nd hand car). i don't know what to expect.

- was told that 4 point strut bar was not allowed

- LED pole light was not allow, white color currently.

- my Reverse light is in LED, can i?

- de-cat

- using aftermarket muffler, must change back.

other than these, i didn't do much on my car.

oh, when i step brake, my rear window will light up. do i need to remove too?

in general, they only check external and engine/chasis

Bro,

- was told that 4 point strut bar was not allowed Pass one

- LED pole light was not allow, white color currently. See their mood. If can change back to normal bulb

- my Reverse light is in LED, can i? See their mood. If can change back to normal bulb

- de-cat This one must see how it looks from under your carriage.

- using aftermarket muffler, must change back. No Cert for muffler = fail

ok, then i shall stick to my 4 point strut bar.

LED pole light, ok, will switch back

reverse, a little problem as the other time, the mech put super glue on the joint connection. not sure if can still take out..

de-cat, looks as good as the original, as the operation was done on top. unless they put the tester into the pipe... confirm fail as the existing cat is all empty..

yeah, after cny, going to reinstall the stock muffler

when i step brake, my rear window will light up. do i need to remove too?

ermm, what about this?

the lighting is all inside, nothing to blind other drivers..

does this consider interior mod which they don't bother [blush]

thanks guys [:p]

Just had my car undergone the full inspection at STA (SIng Ming) last week. The whole process took less than 20 minutes. Overall Result: PASS. Btw, I was told to replace my Pole light (blueish color). I was told the same thing 2 years ago when I did my full inspection for the first time. What is important is that piece of TEST CERTIFICATE, which has been issued to me, so that I can pay the road tax.

aiyo bro... ask me ask me...

i am so tired of ppl (not implying anyone here in this thread) say this fail that fail... balls... unless you guys esxperience it yourself... dont teach ppl based on hearsay...

ok... 1st advice... i will PM you which test center to go to for 'nicer' inspectors... and which test center die die dont go... pls do not try to bribe them... [laugh] the ws/inspection bribr case still fresh in everybody's mind...

1) no paper nevermind lah... want the paper for wat? after inspection also throw... your details all in the system... my inspection i just brought $$$ and my car... (all my previous cars are COE cars... only my present sunny is less than 10yrs old)

2) is not a question...

3)

*i have never heard of strut bars fail inspection... i have a four point front top strut bar... PASS.. you tie bar, rear strut bar, anti-roll bar all PASS... only inside the cabin no bars allowed...

*reverse light LED if fail i chop off my balls... and you should chop off your mech's balls put superglue? retarded...

*and what is a pole light? pictures to show?

*det cat as in how? chop off and wield a straight through pipe? OF COURSE fail... if knock out the honey comb but external still intact then sure pass... same if fail i chop off my balls.... (but no count if inspector got x-ray eyes [laugh] )

*as for aftermarket END muffler, so long within the acceptable decible level, sure pass ONLY IF YOUR CAR IS MORE THAN 10YEARS OLD... if your car is less than 10years old, MUST BE BLOODY ORIGINAL MUFFLER THAT CAME WITH THE CAR... unless your after market muffler is LTA approve WITH cert... (mine cheap muffler so an inspector told me to get another muffler with the Nissan logo... wah piang... found my oringinal in the storeroom and clear the dust and rust and carbon bits and fix myself like crazy... the rubber mounts so difficult to get it in) if you talk about mid muffler, also same rules as end muffler... if you have no mid muffler, you put what end muffler also fail...

*wah lau... step brake rear window will light up??? just diconnect the live wire for inspection lah... back window light up TP on the road if see also will stop you sia...

main thing they check during inspection is if your car is road worthy chassis number and engine number... brakes, lights, etc... they will also check your window tinting... front 30% back 70% to pass... widscreen sticker no more than 4fingers or smthing... read also i forgot how much...

any other questions to ask?

There are few critical items which if fail, no certificate will be issued. Exhaust emission, side slip and brakes efficiency. Without catalytic converter high chance that exhaust emission would fail, which mean immediate failure.

Neutral Newbie

There are some cars where their exhaust pipe exit at a bent angle, like 90 degrees downwards. I ever saw an ocassion, where the tester was trying hard to insert the probe into the bent pipe until tulan and just gave up. [laugh] but that was quite a while back

The exhaust emission and noise is under NEA control. Catalytic converter will affect exhaust emission, and muffler will affect the engine noise. The regulation are in the link here:

http://app2.nea.gov.sg/data/cmsresource/20...12506886164.pdf

refer to the last few pages on the criteria to meet.

The rest of items which vehicle inspection checks are maybe under LTA regulation I guess. Items such as road worthiness, safety, etc.

there are still cars on the roads which do not have a cat as original... COE cars of course...

cat or no cat, car if good condition sure pass... the emmission test is to check carbon doixide monoxide... if got cat but engine lousy condition also will fail...

by the way bro... a cat will probably lose its precious metal abilities like in abt 5years... by then most inspections of cars in SG the cat already dying or dead... as new cars 1st inspection is 3years old and every 2years till 10yrs old and it every year... anyways my previous COE hondas also no cat and pass all emission test...

so far i hv never heard of a car fail emmission test... only diesel vans n lorries euro3 and be4 got higher chance to fail but now Euro4 engines i dont know, shd be easier to pass i guess...

correct me if i'm wrong pls thanks... anyone
