Wait.

There are about 1/3 of workforce that is foreigners (exclude PR), so Singaporeans & PR made 2/3.

so for every FT, they create jobs for 1.5 Singaporeans (say the other 0.5 is PR)?

He must just visit a spin doctor, or just plugging statistic from thin air, as the 2 figures are not directly related.

If I have 1/2 of the people in my company is foreigners, mean 1 FT create jobs for 1 Singaporeans? Then monday, I will do to office to thank all the FT, if not I will not have a job.

PR is also considered Singaporean.

He is juz con by his sub who is supposed to generate statistics supporting their policies.

From my own exp in the worst Semicon Fab in e history of Semicon Fabs, they used e same statistics that a lot of jobs are created for locals becoz of cheap labour from FT. These FTs filled the roles of operators, technicians etc...Singaporean n PRs formed e bulk of the engineers n management.

If someone had visited the ground, they would have seen the following.

1) Among the 60% of Singaporean n PRs, the more realistic ratio is out of that 60%, 60 % PRs, 40% Singaporeans. And among that 60% PRs, some used to be cheap FTs who have moved up e ranks to become PRs. And among the 40% Singaporeans, quite a few are China man n Indian man convertees to Singaporeans (PRs become Singaporeans).

2) So if u seriously think abt it, is it really job creations for local Singaporeans? or let me rephrase it in no unclear terms, How many of the jobs really goes to Singaporeans who are born n bred n had served NS here?

one of my clients... other than top management, lower/middle management people like directors and managers are nearly all foreigners.. and well, once foreigners. prc & indian mostly. pinoys are catching up.

people like engineers and admin are also slowly getting replaced with their kampong kaki.

singaporean is a minority... and this is a GLC. <_<

yes, definitely these are jobs that can be done by singapoerans.

Neutral Newbie

they too rich and elite to even understand a simple daily life of a normal working person paying off his own loans/ debts/ family.

you have to be in one;s shoe to understand what one is going thru , not just all talk , of cos they already cross the line when they claim they were poor once when they owned a coffeeshop , or a 5 room downshift to 4 room . if being rich is considered poor to them , it will only just piss off the lower income group

He talk tok

Last year, half of the newly created jobs goes to FTs

So we need to give equal number of jobs to FTs, just to have the same number of jobs for the locals???

he's perhaps surrounded with singaporeans working for him...he should really walk the ground, alone to see what's happening.. or is it a deliberate smoke screen?

one of my client, a GLC, is definitely swamped with foreigners & 'new' citizens... from top to bottom.

of the bunch of over 20 people i deal with regularly at this client, i counted...only 2 are singaporeans.

these are not worker-level type of jobs, but mid-senior managerial & directors. their assistants are also non-local.

no singaporean willing to do these jobs? can't find a qualified singaporean to do these jobs? c'mon... [thumbsdown]

i'm just waiting for the time they start demanding my company swap me away cos they prefer someone from their village to service them [shakehead]

PR is also considered Singaporean.

and i have to quote again what i have said earlier...

many PRs couples are here to work and earn SGD, buy resale flats and hope to sell at a profit years later, unlikely to let their children do NS, then go back to their homelands (MY or PRC) for a nice retirement...

of course wat. i would do the same if im a PR in another land. that's why no govt allow so many foreigners ma. foreigners are allowed in only for tourism, and if stay longer, contribute to make the it richer, not poorer. but Singapore is Singapore, truly Asia.
