adding additives to the petrol is normal lah... everytime a pump attendant walks to my car i will simply guesture 'no thanks' and he will walk off.. some will ignore me...

by the way the putoline octane booster is errrr.. kinda useless... unless you drive a tuned-up car and petrol ron rating is near needed or below?... dont mind bro whats your ride?... stock or tuned?

 

2nd day with 2T in my tank. Sluggishness when accelerating is more or less gone! Power delivery more linear than before, and at higher speeds and revs, it seems to come into it's own! The car just goes and goes without me having to coax it too much

 

And since this thread's about SPC fuel, Yes...got their 98 in my tank. Have been on SPC ever since I got the 'Everyday' card which was more than 10 years ago!! It's a good fuel despite what some unbelievers say.

 

My car is a 27 year old Corolla with...hmmmm...well, it isn't stock!

I got a close relative who works with AA for years... He has overhauled many engines and types an he once ever told me that all petrol come from the same source but what differ is the processes n filtration it went tru esp in the refining stage based on individual company's technology.

 

He said shell has the best with the least particles n dirt left in ur engine makIng it last longer and no 2 is esso n third is caltex. He never recommend spc as based on his experience the particles in ur engine is horrible making ur engine' s life shorter .. That is for me answer y shell or any other petrol company can never go down as low as SPC. in terms of performance, I feel shell has the smoothest.. They spend billion of dollars on their refining processes.

so when i fill up my car i pour the 2T

once finish, go home and top up again and kep inside the car the cough syrup bottle

Maybe u are right. Many pple said no matter wht brand of petrol you used, the side effect wld not be seen now, but after a long period of time, it may damage your engine.

Whats the point of pumping Shell when people are using mediocre engine oils (eg. Group III).

 

If one is really concerned about engine life, he/she will insist on using PAO or Group V engine oils.

 

If has been proven with numerous UOA that Group IV / V has lesser wear thus longer engine life.

I too believe 2T makes engine smoother.

 

Caues it provides upper cylinder lubrication and also lubricate and cleans the intake valves and valve seats and piston top as well. Keeps the combustion clean. After thats the purpose of 2T oil for bikes. It has to provide both detergent and lubrication purpose.

 

However, I don't think it will improve combustion. Too much will actually make combustion worse. This is because 2T oil is rather thick and heavy oil compared to petrol. Longer chains of hydrocarbon is harder to combust cleanly compared to shorter chains. Hence 2T will not improve combustion.

 

if 2T will not improve combustion... (which i think sounds logical)... then it will not be able to 'keep the combustion clean' like you mentioned... then not possible to clean the valves as well...

 

the only way i believe to clean the combustion chamber is to rev till redline... or take out the block and clean...

 

anyways i read some where that the 2T will modify the fuel molecues... thus improving combustion...

SPC is not v good for high compression engines at least for my big bikes. For my lancer was fine. For my wrx was a bit dull. Now for the families 2 cars the sunny and mazda3 ok la..... The discounts are good though...

Seems like alot of ppl always say some brands got better fc or power or smoother. Thing is can try to do a blind test and u will notice that actually is all psychological. I ever borrowed cars from friends and then they will tell me in return pump full tank for them a certain brand cuz more power and smoother. In the end I just pump whichever brand I have the most discount and after that they drive already no complains.

But not saying that getting the cheapest fuel is the best cuz i only borrowed normal cars not performance cars.
