Digital Door Lock

Actually, I also don't trust my car remote lock so I still have the key with me and have a hidden switch in the car to kill the alarm if the remote not working. Lol. Happened to me twice already so I don't want to take any more chances. Had to drive home with the car alarm ringing cuz the remote stopped working. Anyway, no one seemed to care that I was driving a car with the alarm on.

There is a button to disengage the alarm.

Ok let talk about door lock. There are occasions I left the house without my keys. Happened before I installed the door lock.

Yes, correct. It's the cheap aftermarket version.

It decide to do a last thing to screw me before the battery died. [laugh]

Otherwise, it has never done that before.

Those in the range of 500 plus above should come with batt indicator. My Samsung come with another batt contact point. Get those batt (don't know what to call that)... recharge..reboot the touch pad..and gain entry again.

I don't know what cam..but I did took a close look. At least 3 dot dot dot before it is unlock.

Not all cars have the button. One of mine don't have. The other one have.

Leaving house without key is not a problem for me cuz I need key to open the gate and my door need key to lock. Not the kind that will lock by itself when closed.

The digital gate lock for my place did not went thru. The installer came, saw and cursed the Salesman. He said impossible to install. Apparently the Salesman has already resigned, just days before my installation appointment. The installer called and called the Salesman but he did not pick up his phone.

So no digital lock for my place unless I replace entire gate and door. [:|]

Looking at your pics I thought it would be possible (but more work), did the installer explain why cannot? Be interested to know Edited by Mercury1

Two issues :

1) Gap between wooden door and gate too small.

2) Original lock is too near the gate frame. He says need metal plate adapter to fit. Welding needed. They dont do welding.

May I offer my 2 cents?

Seem like both issues are directly related. That is the gap issue.

I am assuming you prefer to keep your old-school gate design.

So if you get some gate smith to cut out short 1 inch wrought iron pieces, weld it to the original gate frame to make it stand out from the frame, wouldn't that increase the distance from the gate to door?

All these years of using my digital locks (i used 2 models), I have not have the situation of having to use backup measure to open the door.

One main reason is the early warning reminder when the voltage drops below a certain threshold. It will flash a sign and give a distinctive chime each time you use the door. Given the procrastinator I am at times, I had gone for 2 whole weeks of reminder chimes before I finally got off my butt to change out the batteries.

Oh, the convenience of just putting on my running shoes and my mp3 earphones for my weekly run is priceless.

what brand is this? Samsung, gateman?

Thanks. I HDB, so need to have gate still.

Too expensive to have both gate and door digital lock.

But maybe when my kids are older.

This one.

It will be great if they can come in a set together with the gate.

They do.... not that much more expensive if your door and gate do not need much modifications. (not advertising)

still the cost is prohibitive once u talking abt 2 devices.

If have condo with no gate definitely will get digital lock.

I agree it's a bitch with groceries in both hands. But can't see myself paying so much.

Maybe when my kids go primary school then don't want them to bring house keys to school, then switch. Even then likely they will be accompanied by someone.

Yes. Major modification is required to cut out part of the steel gate and weld an adapter steel plate.

Its not a simple plug n play like normal HDB gates.

Gate is more difficult to modify (maybe ugly too) ... usually necessary i guess since it was not designed for such electronic devices. If they have gates that are designed for such devices and fitted well, that would be best .

Thanks for the sharing ... maybe i will give them a call.  :D I wan to get ride of keys
