I am not looking at saving money here , but I heard the old one's better.. So bros.. Suggestions please.. I mostly will be playing GT5 , GTA4 and Burnout Paradise.. Angguguay Neutral Newbie March 1, 2012 Share March 1, 2012 hi SJP, I think the market is currently selling the slim console only. Phat console could be old stock or reconditioned, just my guess. Slim ver uses less energy and generate less heat, that's wht Sony claimed. I guess heat is the major factor that will cause YLOD, which is also why Skylander commented that phat is more prone to it. The earlier generation of phat console allows u to boot up as Linux OS if u install it. Only that ver can. If u r into that, that probably can consider it, although i reckoned it'll still work today if u have the latest system update. Otherwise, a slim console would be good.
