They should remove using live rounds in Army, I heard they are pretty dangerous as well. They should build overhead bridges or underpass at every road outside the school as well, I heard crossing the road is very dangerous as well.

 

Unless that is a very good reason (like every every kids start pointing their bow it at everyone else), I don't understand why it has to be removed.

Toilet bowls should be removed from every home as well. You never know when someone might slip and fall and hit their head smack on the toilet bowl [laugh]

If I am a minister that these youngsters love to hate, I will also eliminate such deadly sports from the schools.

Don't want to be shot dead while doing a school visit.

 

Best is the chess and carroms CCA. Or like the aunties who won in the recent seas games in JKT.....playing BRIDGE cards game!!

 

Like that might as well cancel all outdoor sports and promote indoor sport like 'Tua Tai Tee', '13 Wonders' (Chap Sar Kee), 'Fishing', 'See Kee Pi', 'Buang Luck' ..... etc... [sly]

It's dangerous lah. Some polytechnics i hear they practice archery in open fields. what the fish man

 

That's because they do not have their own field.

 

Even the national team has no permanent field!

 

There are sports in the world that asians dominated yet they rather spend money on sports that only the Europeans/ang mos are good yet. Then cannot win go import FT. Money drained there could have been used to develop world class archer.

 

We have one just over the causeway. A msian who is alrdy world class. Hundred percent MIM.

archery is good.going to be useful in ns and in workplace.

2nd 'sport' they should promote is taiji.also applicable in ns and in workplace.

3rd one is bootlicking,needless to say,applicable to ns and workplace.

 

almost 99.9% of scholars practiced all the above.

MOE to train student groups in all schools to spot distress in their peers

 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) will train a core group of students in each school to help them identify signs of distress in their peers and offer basic social and emotional support starting from this year, said Minister of State for Education Janil Putucheary in Parliament on Tuesday (7 March).

These peer supporters can raise awareness of mental health issues among their fellow students and help engender a “culture of support and resilience”, wherein students are willing to seek help, he added.

Such training and experience will also offer a “unique development opportunity” for the students involved to hone their empathetic listening, interpersonal and communication skills.

Putucheary was responding to a question from Tampines GRC MP Cheng Li Hui on MOE’s involvement in NurtureSG and its ongoing efforts “to build healthy bodies and healthy minds” during the Committee of Supply (COS) debate on the ministry’s 2017 Budget.

Announced during the MOE’s 2016 COS debate, NurtureSG is a plan for enhancing health outcomes among Singapore’s youth and is jointly led by Putucheary as well as Minister of State for Health Lam Pin Min.

Touching on how older students in particular play a vital role in fostering a caring and supportive school environment, Putucheary pointed to how some schools have already taken the lead in developing and strengthening their own peer support networks.

“We hope to build on this good work and establish the practice across our school system,” he said.

Acknowledging that there is no single solution to the underlying problem behind mental health issues, Putucheary said that one of the NurtureSG taskforce’s recommendations would be to set up an interagency work group on youth suicide.

The group will be led by Professor Daniel Fung of the Institute of Mental Health, he said, adding that he is confident that its findings will be “instructive”.

Demanding education, on the contrary, they are relaxing. Seems to me more like stress from parents that are cause through societal stress.

This type of thing will change one. One fine day, another smart Alec will question..., then change. After some time, another smarter Alec comes into picture, change back....

 

Same thing happens in organisations.

 

Not that I mind or bothered, heard school kids must do area cleaning now. Anyone can confirm?

whatever program will not affect 90% of the students who continue to focus on their studies and tuition, etc.

 

the new program will enable/empower some students with interest to take on roles for addition CIP point.

nowadays, there are 3 to 4 VPs in many schools, then another 2 councilors

now they even wanna add in another psychiatrist, then mentalist and so on . . . .

teachers these days only teach intro and leave the main contents to home tuitions

they even masterminded spams across all levels by insisting communications with students via whatapps, as if all students must own smartphones to survive nowadays!!!!

 

MOE is now injecting more virus by blinding all parents, instead of going for the cure

and this edu minister ng cs even facilitated bandwidth into PSLE scores to blurr all ppl by building bureaucracies instead of transparency

 

wtf is has our gahmen become today?

totally clueless and directionless

its getting hopeless . . . . . .

You mean there was a time school kids don't need to do area cleaning????

 

I was the floor IC last time, the broom and dust pan beside my desk. I don't mind cos I rather sweep than clean the window panels.
