mersaylee Hypersonic December 14, 2018 Share December 14, 2018 (edited) This is akin to android or iOS ... Just ask yourself what are your Budget, application and result you wish to achieve in the end. Hardcore or enthusiast would definitely recommend DSLR for more serious session for various occasions while amateur would just need basic point and shoot with easy upload to cloud or Instagram etc. ILC has come a Long way with pretty decent interchangeable lenses... I’d still prefer a viewfinder with immediate projection of a frame I’d like to capture. ILC being mirrorless would have to rely on the type of sensor used to process then project an image on the display screen... I stand corrected though as I’m super lazy nowadays and use hp only, not even selfie stick or osmos anymore. I am totally noobs at digital photography … I only use my mobile phone camera. just attended my son's n2 graduation presentation … used my phone … now see the vids make me giddy ... so question : can rec me any DSLR below $500 that can take good videos in low lighting (like a concert hall) ? don't have to be the newest product … something older also can. https://www.sony.com.sg/electronics/handycam-camcorders/hdr-cx405 - mustafa Velbon L50 Ultra Stick Monopod - online $57 Edited December 14, 2018 by Kklee
benjamin_mok Neutral Newbie January 17, 2019 Share January 17, 2019 A good ILC camera is generally better for video shooting but the battery life is worse than a dslr.

Since you do not use ILC or dslr cameras regularly there's no need to get one. Camera phones are rapidly improving in terms of hardware and software. If you look at say the huawei mate10 pro, I know 20 is the latest, it has dual Leica lens (images are damn sharp)...optical zoom is sufficient (it doesn't look grainy), image stabilization (to minimise the shaking), full HD, to me it's more dan enough to record children concerts. Camera tech move quite fast. If you don't use it frequently it will get dated easily and become a white elephant. It's a waste. Unless you have developed an interest in photography and think the one on the phone cannot satisfy you then you may consider getting a ILC or dslr.
