Throttle2 Supersonic September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 (edited) Bro, in Singapore ah..... it's all about wayang...... Last time in one of my first few jobs, I knew a few bankers who lived in HDB and drove to the office.... they were so self-conscious of their "HDB status" that they would hide their HDB discs after parking their cars at the office car park... these are the people who really wayang until they dunno who they are..... That kind is not "Banker" lah, brother...... I met friend's friend (an xmm) in a gathering, about 25 yrs old, i asked what do you do, she said "banker" , i said, " Edited September 23, 2012 by Throttle2 ↡ Advertisement

Happily1986 5th Gear September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 Yes great. Next do two cylinders and charge same price for the car. Make the 4 cylinder high end cars feel like they waste money. Amusing but i don't think BMW is going to do a Ford anytime soon. Your penchant for the IL-6 is understandable but it is but merely emotional sway. I take it that you are a self-styled petrolhead. Something to do with the upcoming 1liter Mondeo?
Zyklon 5th Gear September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 Hehe ... the intrusive wind and road/tyre noise are sure irritating current F10, F20 and F30 owners, with no clear solutions from PML / BMW AG. Read some DIY jobs using fish tank hoses though, in bmwsg.com! I'd be quite happy doing long hauls on my not-large 3L V6. Won't touch a 2L IL4 TC though, for a grand tourismo - just a personal thingy. But give me an C63AMG, or the M5 on N63V8 and I would take them. The noise issue affects even 7er, especially undercarriage noise. I drove and rode in a few 2.5-3.5L v6 and honestly I will take the bmw n20 in a f10 over them whether I was cruising or taking off from lights. n63 is 550i. M5 is s63? C63 and M3's are really not a daily go to work car. I honestly don't understand how some guys can mod their exhaust till the resonance shakes the sofa at the service centre and still drive on day to day basis. It was loud enough in stock form. Different stroke for different folks I guess.
ER-3682 Supersonic September 23, 2012 Share September 23, 2012 At a sensible 120km/hr cruise in a f10, one will really struggle to tell if the car has a N20, N52 or N55. Wind noise and road noise is probably a bigger concern. Laugh at inline 4 for all you want, but this n20 from bmw is really smooth and has very good power delivery for urban driving. It is no inline 6, but will match or even better any v6 in refinement and power delivery. It just looks tiny in the engine bay and sounds like a taxi when you are standing outside and the engine is cold. Then again, nobody ever drives his car sitted outside. You will be disappointed with the f10 if v8 roar or exhaust noise is your thing. It doesn't matter if it is a n20, n52 or n55. The cabin is too muted. You will be better off with a lexus gs or budget straining xf-r. There is a N63 v8 option for the f10, but I have never been in one, so cannot comment on it. BMW's IL4 is very smooth on the move,it will not lose refinement at anything above 1500rpm,the only vibration felt is at idling speed[not really very bad]...refinement can match any V6 on the market when on the move...only the sound produced a bit of letdown, boomy rather than purring. inlinesix Hypersonic September 24, 2012 Share September 24, 2012 BMWs are best known for 6 cylinders and all die-hard fans of BMW love 6. There is no doubt about it. 4 potter is relatively new concept to them. Hopefully they would succeed here too. Having driven both 6 and 4 quite recently, I have the following views. 6 is really silky smooth, no jerks or any of that sort, engine note is fantastic (sounds great). You really enjoy the power from certain RPM and speed of the car. On the other hand, 4 potter turbo you feel the power of the turbo at any RPM and speed of the car with slightly a timelag between acceleration and actual power. The engine tends to be little nosier than 6. In my opinion, both have pro and cons and you need to see which one you prefer. I would not have any reservation for my next BMW in terms of number of cylinders. BMW has very good NA 4 pot in E30 era as well as E90 N54B20S. IL6 can be silky smooth as well as a wild mustang depends on how you drive it. Look at the bonnet of F10 520, i will stay away unless i can afford to buy 535 & above. Confirm IT and toilet cleaner this type no count la... But what about head of marketing, head of credit, head of ops? Hard to define right? i think , needs to be defined by more than one or two things. Head of marketing = not banker Head of Credit = yes banker Head of Ops = not banker for me quite simple to define. 1. must have authority to make decisions for millions of dollars 2. must have signing authority officially binding of the Bank 3. must understand various general functions, operations and products services of the bank. therefore traders, dealers also not considered bankers... simple.....
