Recommendation for digital camera

Any good recommendation for digital cameras? Intend to get as a gift for gf and budget bout 200-300+... Would appreciate any advice

I think all of them are pretty decent nowadays.

 

I prefer sony or canon for compact cameras.

Buy for GF one, go for Sony. Their compact cameras are very stylish for ladies.

i dunno got 92 now ?

 

is superb

 

as good as a DSLR IMO

lighter than DSLR definately

 

of cos u must know how to use a DSLR to know wat are the capabilities

and thus minic it by using a S90

haha no where close to DSLR lah.

The successor to S90 is S95. Then i think it became some 100 or 110 liao.

 

Though it's as good as compact cameras can get without a APS-C or micro 4/3rds sensor.

 

Sony WX series is also good. Got one for my parents. idiot proof. But i think beyond TS's budget.

Now oready S110. I have a S100 and indeed it's a good camera. Very compact.

Sony is betterer for P&S digicams. Battery can last very long.

Thanks for all the inputs... This are my last few choices hope to hear from expert opinions on which I should get:

 

1) Nikon Coolpix S8200 - $329, 16mp 14x zoom, heaviest among the others

2) Nikon Coolpix S6300 - $249, 16mp 10x zoom, cheapest option

3) Canon IXUS 240 HS - $ 349, 16.1mp, 5x zoom, wide angle, intelligent is/wifi, trendy

4) Canon IXUS 125 HS - $299, 16.1mp, 5x zoom, cheaper option to 240HS

5) Sony WX100 - $399, 18.2mp, 10x zoom, optical steadyshot, lighest and very nice outlook

 

So right now I am really torn among the choices but I think Sony & Nikon could be my final choice... Pls help!

For Sony, I beg to differ. I own one Sony camera, TX5. It is a good camera. I like it very much, nice looking, small and compact, great images, some more it's water proof and I have tested at the Great Barrier Reef.

 

However, after 1 yr +, the well known vibrating problem appears. It will keep vibrating when taking picture. It seems that not only TX5 is affected, in fact, quite a few models have this problem. Just do a google search:

Personally, I will not buy a Sony camera again.

i don't know about other models.

Personally, i feel these issues can happen to any electronic device especially the more compact it is.

So far for my friends, relatives, myself, no complaints.
