further affirmation that software development isn't the Koreans's strong suit.

i personally think they are cramming too many (unnecessary) features into this consumer electronic/ appliance, in a bid to gain first mover advantage before apple enters this market.

I'm thinking of replacing my last generation Pioneer Kuro

Kuro user should consider sharp elite model.

off angle viewing is no issue since the couch is 1m from the screen.

 

if couch is off centre, then panasonic VT50 plasma may be more suitable.

as mentioned, sharp elite is probably the top range u r looking for.

 

What's the price range? Sharp used to be damn good at displays but guess they are not as sharp as before :D

Thinking of buying from overseas now that the exchange rate is so favourable.

What are you looking for? Plasma, LED or LCD?

 

Superb contrast ratio or overly saturated colour reproduction?

 

Maybe you can buy the next big thing, 4k display TV.

Good feedback from everyone. I eventually settled for a Samsung 46" Smart LED TV, purchased at the Expo over the weekend.

 

I only realised that the Samsung section was actually a front for Audio House, after they printed out my receipt upon payment. I had a premonition there'll be some trickery and true enough, a patronising customer service personnel called this morning to inform me that the delivery will be delayed by a week. No apologies, no contrition, no empathy and seriously lacking in professionalism. The delay was bad, but the handling of the delay was far worse.

 

Choosing a TV is probably less tricky than choosing where to buy it from.

I actually bought a washing machine along with my LED TV. When the customer service personnel called to say the LED TV delivery is delayed, I asked if the washing machine will be delivered according to the earlier committed schedule. The answer is yes.

 

So come today, the delivery date for my washing machine, we called Audio House if they are coming. They affirmed delivery will take place before 4pm. Waited past 4pm, we called again. This time, the answer came back - "we'll deliver the washing machine together with the LED TV". Huh? No notification after changing the plan? No apology for changing the plan? The least they could do is to ensure that the washing machine is delivered since I'm already cheesed that the TV is delayed.

 

No more Audio House for me.

if I were you I will insist they come immediately or by today regardless what time. tell them you have whole week of laundry piling up not wash and they have to pay for the laundry if you take it outside?
