So far ok, been watching Fringe (entire season 5) on it, no disconnection. your internet speed also plays a part.

i am quite happy with the apple tv ($100) and watch movie/series (running man update every week ) stream from ipad, because of this, i find the family is spending too much time in front of the tv lately. Must put a stop to this

Bottomline, watch out for 3 specs

 

1.) SoC (System on Chip)

 

Check it is a Rockchip (The manufacturer) RK3066 (Model). This is a dualcore meaning it has 2x Cortex A9 CPU.

 

2.) RAM

 

Check that it has 1GB RAM. I think it should be LPDDR3.

 

3.) GPU

 

The GPU is embedded onto the SoC and it should be a quadcore Mali MP400. Fact is, this Rockchip RK3066 is almost on par in processing power as the SoC found in Galaxy S2. So it is as good as plugging a S2 via HDMI out to your TV.

They should come out with a NIC port version. Since the device is stationary, I don't really see a need for wifi for my case. Many people do not realize and tend to blame the device for poor wifi reception but wireless router can be a major cause of problem, especially if you buy a cheapo one. Some RISC chipset can't handle to constant and heavy streaming load and thus creating poor or inconsistent wireless bandwidth....

I did a comparison for a combo deal of dongle+ airmouse.

 

In Aliexpress, it was going for 90 SGD and the one you mentioned was 190 SGD. If you think the extra 100 is ok for next day shipping, then go ahead. Well, the good thing i guess is that the seller claims there is local warranty terms so it is up to you.

you can always use the OTG capability to connect to a ethernet cable for connectivity. you wont get cat 5e bandwidth for sure but it is a viable alternative.

Get RC12 as the wireless mouse (with touch pad) or MELE F10 wireless mouse with Gyroscope.

I bought 5 units (for colleagues) and bargain with the seller online. Also, do note that their DHL or FEDEX does not necessarily arrive faster than the usual EMS.
