I went down to view a used Volkswagen Golf but it was already sold. I had saw the Mazda 6 which was quite well maintained and decided to purchase the vehicle. I checked the car really throughly (watched a lot of videos on where to check and knock on the panels). He even commented I know my cars. I decided to purchase as there wasn't any werid sound from test driving (can see the previous owner really took great care of the car).

It was quite normal for the dealer to ask a 1 month downpayment for the car which I promptly gave, which they will make the first payment to the bank. 2 weeks past, the bank called me asking for the initial payment which I said I had paid to "Alvin". He give loads of reason and dragged for 2 weeks without making payment to the bank. I almost made a police report where he then transfered the payment via internet banking back to me.

What was so difficult to send a cheque to the bank. The reason was always the admin is on leave, the boss is still on leave and can't sign the cheque. I don't know how to transfer the money to the bank. I cannot authorised the payment.

They have free servicing and all. I refused to go back and told him I want nothing to do with SG Auto.

- There was 1 issue which I self rectified by going around to various workshops. The previous owner had bought exp RIM (Brand: Vorsteiner) and used security lock nuts. I went to 10+ workshops and they do not have the security bolt to unlock it. Lucky this tyre shop had a similar model and I paid like $30 to replace the nuts on the RIMs. Alvin refused to help and gave really lame holding replies.

P.S. The car drives great. The previous owner really took care of the car. Even the workshop I frequent said the car is in excellent condition.

There must be a better way of transferring this payment ? Maybe direct payment to bank ? rather than be held to ransom by these unscrupulous people.

Definition of an asset is that it is an owner item of value.. not necessary to be appreciating in value.  Just take a look at your company fixed assets.  Most are depreciating assets.

@shrjun I thought (aka assumed) that the 1st month payment is a default amount that the dealer will collect and make payment of behalf of the consumers (which is usually true).

After this saga, I now know that the buyer (like myself) can pay this amount directly to the bank. So if any dealer asks for the 1st month, anyone can reject it.

Why is it only when it's making money than consider assets?

So many have commented about depreciting assets.

I agree on this technicality . However on a personal level its hard to consider something for which I paid a paper value which was 6 times the OMV of my car any kind of asset 🤣 . It just exists because I bought it .

Lol. So this is just personal. 

Technically it is an asset just that u don agree to it and not facing the reality. Hahahaa. Reality is harsh, especially in SG.

Hello, I'm new like to find out if there's any wrong used car dealer company showroom having another two companies name? Their sales representative Alv** look hooligan red color dye hair (sorry to be mean like 公鸡) sweaty smelly.

I am interested get a 2nd hand car from them but when asking some issue he keep text call check with boss. Don't look professional good friendly service.

If anyone can help, really appreciate it! Thanks

Get Alv** to look less hooligan, no red colour dye hair or not sweaty smelly or not text call check with his boss with some issues you asked? 

Frankly, if u already uncomfortable with the Sales Representative, perhaps its a wiser thing to just move on to another dealer? Especially when he's not very sure how to answer to the issues you asked. 

A heathly approach is one where u can afford a little basic respect to the other party, similar to one we would expect from any sales representative attending to us. 

The type of respect that must be earned is a class higher where the service, professionalism and integrity is displayed. This will be a journey where one discern if the SE is an idiot, a rascal, a cheat or lesser than a human being. Or a rare angel. 😂

So, what ride are you looking to buy? There will be a few more Alv** in this industry. But u not buying Alv** so dun be too distracted.

Is this Alv the only person in the whole entire SG able to sell car? If no, then move on... what help is needed here?

We can only help by asking u to move on to look at cars from other dealers...

Please beware of JFR Auto Trading, I bought a Honda Jazz from them. And I found out that my mileage been tempered when I brought it to KM to install side mirror module. The original mileage should be 68k+ but upon  test drive and view the car, the mileage was 39k+, did ask them did the mileage been tempered or not, they denied and asked for servicing log, they mentioned previous owner never bring to KM for any servicing.

When confronted them after finding out the mileage been tempered, they kept pushing the blame to the previous owner that they did the tempered. I asked them when owner sell their car to them whether do they keep a record of their mileage? They said they do not do it and other dealer also did not do that procedure. They kept asking me to bring the car back to them and they would help me to bring the car to Vicom for car evaluation which I denied because I feel why I should trust them again after what they done and who know what kind of trick they going to do.

So I brought it to Bukit Batok Vicom, the mechanic told me why I brought the car down, I told him, dealer advised me to bring and the car mileage was been tempered. The mechanic kindly advised me that I should make a police report rather then bring it for evaluation since mileage is been tempered and it consider cheated. And he also mentioned that mileage been tempered it will void the car warranty from KM. 

So, I went to make a police report with all the evidence after hearing that this car dealer is dishonest and irresponsible of what they do.

For new car, normally owners will send their car back to AD to service their cars.

If it is weird then move on to another dealer. Used Jazz is common in SG.
