I got this idea that tray return would put old aunties and uncles out of jobs, benefit greedy operators and with no savings will be passed to consumers.

Though I always clean up when I know someone is actively waiting for my table.

Otherwise I am not for tray return for now.

Anyone disagree?

some will return the trays some will not. As least by returning mine, i make the ah mah's life easier. It can be darn busy at peak hours. But if the establishment employ ah tiongs... i may not return my tray. LOL

I think clearing the rubbish - tissues, bones, leftovers on table is far more important than clearing the tray. Not necessarily it has to be spanking clean, but what you pui, please put back to tray and leave it there. I think cleaners and most patrons don't mind this method.

There's no point for people to clear the tray, but leave debris behind. The next patron suffers.

thats what i think to...yesterday i had lunch with some friend and one of them a graduate ate and left the bones and waited fir the cleaning uncle to clear the bones for him. i was like...what the fark...waiting for pple to clear table which u had messes up. Not saying all graduate are like him....but he should know better as this guys has been to many ettiquette courses. But what do i know! I am just a non-graduate!

recently, there is a company that invented a machine that needs to put in coin to take a tray?

Then return it to take back the coin (Something like trolley idea).

it's invented by some students from Temasek Polytechnic

[laugh] It's an overkill lah. Should just spend this $$$ on other automation like dish washing, etc....

not that simple.. if u accidentally spill the soup.. how? if i willing to mop, but who will clean the tower?

i don't mind for the tray return exercise, but i also wish to see the owners to keep hiring on ppl to assist to maintain the cleaniness..

imagine next time we go for oil change, they ask us to discard the oil ourselves.. lol

The coin tray system is easily defeated.

In some European countries, promoters give out plastic circular chips, in the size of their $1 coin as promotion freebies.

These circular chips are often used in their shopping cart, like how we insert $1 to use the cart.

Similary some ingenious person may start selling 10 plastic chips for $1 in foodcourts. To use on the trays.

COIN TRAY? wat a joke.

The most I bring the entire tray home and then dig using screw driver and then discard it after retrieving my coin.

Ppl can also go round stealing un-return tray and then go behind the scene to dig out the coin.

if ppl can push NTUC trolley all the way home, dig the coin and left the trolley aside...this tray is even easier.

recently, there is a company that invented a machine that needs to put in coin to take a tray?

Then return it to take back the coin (Something like trolley idea).

Has it started at any of the foodcourt?

Trying to compete for another World's First again?

So wat's the primary objective?

Stupid invention. I can still return the tray without the bowls and plates.

If this is the objective, it's already being defeated even before implementation.

here is $ talks.

How much savings are there when patrons clean up after eating?

Are the savings passed on to the customers?

Supposing the cleaner earns $1500 a month, divide by the number of customers and days, savings is a few neligible cents.

You might as well make the dish washer's life even easier by dumping everything into the rubbish bin. No need to wash anymore.

If everyone does that, doubt the hawker will even want you to clear your own plates and rather the cleaners do for you.

Or in the end use disposable.
