i feel the culprit is the secondary check......very time consuming....

Bro Nightkids,

The real culprit is the "currency exchange" that has attracted substantially huge numbers of humans, private and commercial vehicles traffic crossing the 2 countries border.

If both country leaders are concern about wasting natural resources such as fuel energy and precious time in economy perspectives, then we'll see our woodlands causeway expanding into multi tier flyover just like our Keppel Flyover at PSA.

To conclude, super scale minister's salary doesn't really help to buy good, useful and kind brains for nation development progress. [smallcry]

How do the driver get out of his car while his passport is being checked/stamped? I mean to get out and open the trunk for inspection....since the car is along-side the counter.

Of they check before you can drive into the immigration booth...?

You are right, before you get your passport checked, an officer will ask you if you have anything to declare. Then he/she inspects your trunk. Once this is clear, you drive into the immigration booth. So the officer will put plastic orange cone between your car and the car in front of you at any one time.

So they have to station 2 officer at each counter. 1 of them check passport the other check the trunk? These way faster than usual?

Not really. The bottleneck is still there. :( at the immigration booth...

actually also good idea, since you stop already, while checking passport, might as well check car boot as well !

but the space is narrow.....

The exact position for have our trunk inspected is a car's length before the immigration booth, so it is not narrow..

good but still jam.. [shakehead]

yes... [thumbsdown]

I believe it will take long time, resources to make this happen as the whole realization of the great plan is fully dependant on both sides' great leaders..... [nod]

Thumb up to new ICA trial program

Yday came back and was shocked!!! Wa so many Custom officer check car when approaching the chope passport booth. I thought wa super big operation!

The test program is that 1 officer will inspect your before you go counter to chope passport. I must say that the guy is check more thoroughly. After chope passport at the old inspection area, officer still screen car and inspect car which is good. This result to less jam and faster clearing of custom. Thumb up ICA good initiative

(BTW these guy damn on, 1 guy even inspect the undercarriage)

More lanes will encourage more overtaking or change lane, it will be more messy during a jam.

they should just broaden the causeway. makes a lot more sense.

Hi, Janling3,

Good Morning.

Anyone would be able to understands it is a sin to waste precious natural resources (traffics congested wasting fuel in traffic jam), the causeway had been builded more than 100 years ago to manage the present larger populations (peoples & vehicles) without an inched of expansion to resolve the infamous traffic congestions almost everyday until bad to worse situations, I believes they (both sides leaders) just doesn't care. They will use together with 6~8 TP bikes and 2 Vovol's SUV rushing ahead of them to chase you and me out of the rightful traffic lane

There is 3 place to screen your car.

1) before the chope passport gantry

2) the old location

3) the before exit

A lot of officer to screen cars, but check once only

Hi Fongmy,

I fully agree with you. IMHO, both leaders form either side have more pressing issue in hand over the causeway traffic jam. Yes, they have built the second link in Tuas, but this does not address the main issue (massive traffic jam in most hours of the day and night) in JB-woodland link, as Tuas is not as convenient and practical for most of the road user for that matter. [:(]

Actually they did discussed about this issue and had agreed to built the 3rd Link on the Eastern side.

Turbocharged

was checking the cameras this morning to see a good time to cross over.

the outgoing seems ok.

unfortunately, causeway incoming is consistently packed. 1pm now and just as bad as 8am.

why ah??

Won't be it better if there are less jams in the first place so we don't have to worry about more messy jam when it happens?

Yeah, I think the Causeway can be easily expanded as it is not a bridge (It is a land link) but if we raise this with Bolehland, they would want to replace it with a real bridge that will allow ships to transverse the Johor Straits.
