I rather trust my money with TnG than Youtrip but I won't put too much in both too. Better in eWallet than carrying cash around MY, especially JB. That should be the main consideration, me think.

If have Grab and TnG apps (TnG is more widely accepted as a mode of payment in MY than Paynow is in Singapore), you can go almost cashless in big cities. But I still carry RM100-200 cash, just in case.

You can pay for hawker food with the TnG apps. Retail business that doesn’t accept credit cards accept TnG in MY. And you will need it for VEP next time, so i suggest to just get it done. But do remember to register using your NRIC and not passport (to allow linkage of VEP RFID with eWallet).

Youtrip, TnG is a monopoly and majority controlled by CIMB, the bank won’t cannibalize their own MY FX business (for as long as possible), me think. Youtrip is the disruptor here.

I won't be going if I could book air tickets to elsewhere earlier. But my colleague was on long Mc, so I didn't book anything until end Sept. Bit wary of monsoon season for SEA in general for year end. So lock in is irrelevant to me. Edited November 1, 2022 by Lala81
