Unleash your kids in the 11,000 sq ft Westgate Wonderland at Jurong East

SINGAPORE — Looking for a new place to dump your children while you get a much needed dose of retail therapy?

Come Christmas, an 11,000-square foot outdoor playground will open its doors to young shoppers (and their parents) at Westgate, an integrated retail and office development in the heart of Jurong Lake District.

Westgate Wonderland claims to be Singapore’s largest thematic outdoor playground in a mall, and will be open to the public for free. The playground will have dry and wet areas, play zones catering to children of different ages, and will feature a larger-than-life garden with gigantic insects, musical flowers, a 10-metre tall tree house and an enormous watering can. You know, cos plants need water, right?

“We envisioned Westgate as a mall that goes ‘beyond shopping’ — a gathering place for the community and a place where families come to enjoy themselves and spend the day,” said Ms Wee Su Lin, General Manager of Westgate. “We thus anchor the mall’s family and lifestyle mall positioning with a dedicated family zone on Level 4, where the centerpiece will be Westgate Wonderland. Apart from its large area and customised play exhibits that weave a storyline, the playground stands out with its unique night-time play experience accentuated by special lighting and sound effects.”

In addition to Westgate Wonderland, the mall will also have a Kids Club, a supervised play area for children aged four to 12, with programmed activities including obstacle races and treasure hunts.

Jjointly developed by CapitaMalls Asia, CapitaMall Trust and CapitaLand, Westgate is slated to open before this Christmas.

saw e "tree house" today. looks really built 'out of storybook' type. but looking at e height and at e edge it's placed at, dangerous...

looking at the picture, thats my concern too [sad]

but i think this is a great idea

developer get to convert wasted open space into an attraction which will attract families

then hope that these families will spend some marnie in the mall

don't be duped by e photo. it's just a "concept" picture, ain't no forest behind nor around it. this is really gonna be in Jurong. Right opposite JE mrt, smacked right in between Jem and e future J Gateway condo. everything gonnna be linked up together and become a combination of multiple malls around.

Supercharged

Just to share....

whenever kids go to such crowded "Children Friendly" mall, they came back with souvenirs.........

HFMD

or Stomach Flu

or Chicken pox

called it coincidental or weak immune system.....i rather avoid bringing them to airconditioned and crowded areas. Don't want them to grow up with memories of only shopping malls cos there are more friendly, fun places.....i.e.....gardens, parks, beaches.

Alot of of interest here for nature. Just to share, I just ran the trailseeker run last weekend, along the green corridor to Dairy Farm. Seems like good places to hike. Saw some entry points from Tanglin halt. Can hike all the way to Bukit timah for breakfast and u-turn back. FYI, the Diary Farm can be crowded too, as I saw the car park was full.

Kids had to be exposed to build their immune system, we just make sure they survive and be stronger. The world is not meant to be sanitised.

Funny thing you should mentioned parks and gardens, where chances of getting dengue is higher. Mortality rate is also higher than the stomach flu, HFMD

i understand yr pov. my pov is "i want them to grow up with memorises of having fun in the nature. it is okay to get dirty when playing outdoors. preparations to take when going outdoor". most of my kiddos' peers spend more time indoors in shopping mall than outdoors until they shudder when they heard that school is organising cip. or complaining no aircon when going for school camp etc.

now Orchard Road has the highest dengue cases compared to other areas. not surprising to see some parents take precaution when bringing their kids to Orchard Road. ytday just witnessed parents spraying repellant on their children just before they exit from station.
