No need buy a new car also can. Just transfer the car to the relative and get the insurance under relative's name lo. But based on the sentence does it mean this insurer don't renew the person can just go and get from another insurer?

in order to drive a car where the main insurance policy holder (ie the relative in above example) is not the active driver, the active driver who has a bad record in insurance can still drive meh?

I tot there'd be background checks on all the drivers who are going to be parked under the co-driver insured parties when buying the insurance.

On a side note, i have been paying 1st party for 8 yrs. Now that I have no loan, should I renew my coming 9th year under 3rd part fire theft ? Are there any implications that I should be aware of?

but in this case, ur name may get blacklisted & the inconvenience will be that u may need to look for family members to piggyback insurance.

If it happens too often, may just run out of names.

I have been on third party since I got my car when it was new. Only implications are you cannot claim for any of your own damage lo. It only covers damage to the third party. But the premium can be alot cheaper. Mine was about 46.7% cheaper than comprehensive. Decided to go for third party for my current car cuz I realised that I never ever claimed for my own damage at all for my previous car. Amount I have saved over the past few years will definitely be enough to cover for any repairs already unless total loss.

Can don't name a driver ma. For my first car I got under my dad's name, also cover any driver. But we opted for the option of higher excess if the driver happens to be under the age of 25 in the event of an accident.

Firstly once u go to 2nd or 3rd party, u cannot go back to 1st party.

Also the premiums for 1st party is usually only slightly more than 2nd n 3rd party.

I now try to stick with 1st party as long as possible until the Ins Co says I have to switch to 2nd/3rd party.

Even 2nd/3rd party u pay premium but get back only scrap value plus a bit for TOTAL LOSS. U can actually claim that yourself back from LTA when the car is scrapped. Any other damage to yr car u cannot claim a single cent.

So if u buy 2nd/3rd party u r mainly paying for the cover to others vehicle damage.

Many innocent drivers when confronted with the task/burden of bringing the guilty party to court etc, wil usually just drop the case cos of the costs n risk involved.

Very few if any of these gangster drivers get punished.

yep, I just called my ws. Was advised that for car unlike bikes, the diff is 100-200 bucks. So no point taking 2nd party, aka TPFT.

Congrats!

How did u settle it?

Her husband (owner of the vehicle) called me and explained for the delay in responding to me as he was overseas. So it has been settled now.

Thats why I said, also make it compulsory to make a police report when u r involved in an accident.

So if the other party dun make any report, the police wil take action.

Last time any accident must b reported to the police. Hardly hear of pple make false reports cos pple scared of being charged by the police for making a false report.

Now its so common for pple to make a false report to the insurance co. or no report at all cos ty know there is not much that can happen to them.

Long ago I was hit by an aggressive Ang Mo driver n he dun stop n just drive off. I made a police report of Hit n Run. The police called him up n he was scared shit and offfered to pay for my car damage. Luckily the damage was very slight n I let it go.

But the effect of the police calling u up to investigate an accident is more scary than receiving a silly letter from the ins co asking u if u were involved in an accident.

The matas overworked. That's why compulsory polis reporting for all accidents was scrapped. They opined that they have better things to do.

Agree that compulsory reporting is better for all motorists and users of the roads. Last time, one lolly knocked me down from my bike. Can see the lolly driver very scared, keep pleading me to private settle and not to report. In the end, I still report.

Road users then were much more obedient than now.

Refer to section 84 of Road Traffic Act. It clearly states that both party has a duty to exchange name & address.

It usually boils down to how good a ws is.

I met an accident 2 yrs back. 3rd party nvr report to insurer. WS pursue 3rd party insurer for 3 wks. 3rd party insurer came down to assess my damange & it was fixed up in 3 days.

But now the guilty party dun wan to exchange particulars n deny ty were even involved in any accident when asked by their Ins Co. There is surely a legal loop hole here n it needs to b plugged by the authorities.

BTW exchange of particulars is optional. U only need to report the date/time, location, vehicle reg no., make n model n colour in yr Ins report form. This was told to me b4 by the police when I made a report n the other party refused to provide his particulars.

Yes good for u, but the feedback we r getting now is that Ins Co wil wash hands if the other party dun report to them. Ty just tell the claimant to persure their own legal action against the guilty party which is unreasonable to say the least.

Yes when there is the fear that mata wil take action, most drivers r scared.

Now what can the Ins Co do? Ty also waiting to wash hands only.

They sud bring back the police report with every accident. After all we r paying so damm blardy much in taxes for our cars, at least we sud get proper protection in case of an accident.

There r many things which r "not right" but what can we do cos we dun make the laws.

Thanks. Mines India Insur.

India Ins had a very bad reputation last time. [sweatdrop]

can't remember, but should be more than a decade by now.

They would have anticipated that insurance companies will take a more proactive role, but it all seem like it is not. It's only quite recently that Alibaba and Aunty Lusi implement "mobile roadside" assistance. If you are with Alibaba, it's compulsory to call them immediately to report langah (please note, not within 24 hours, but immediately). But, w e also know this has a motive to their favour.
