new k3 pricing is between 75k - 93k for the range of trim...

just got the pricing...

trade in my car will be crap value..

lets see my options today

COE then of a 5 year old car should be about 50k ? If you repair it and sell it in sgcarmart for about 7k to 7.5k depre per year, I suppose there would be willing buyers ? It is better than you scrap it now , which will only get you the remaining COE plus parf. Or unless it is so difficult to sell a VW. Edited by Ct3833

Strictly speaking, there is no such think as a VW specialist. Depending on how loosely you define this term.

But you definitely can call them workshops familiar with VW.

But you definitely can call them workshops familiar with VW.

Some of these workshops "familiar" with VAG are more specialist than the mechanics at VCS loh. Many of them with years of experience and some came out from VCS. On the other hand, those so called specialists at VCS are mostly new birds. After few years cannot tahan the workload will come out go set up these workshops. Learn this through 10 years of driving VW.

Supposed to be the mini stringer ....

If can wait, I would say wait for the new model. Should be in Singapore this year.

I am impressed by the K3 Sports model that my friend bit recently .... Sun Roof, ventilated seats, touch screen etc .... very well specs.

I would say go for the basic or the Sports .... in between not 3 not 4.

Hope they will bring in a 1.6L turbo or at least 1.4L turbo otherwise already end up losing to i30 immediately...

Well... I think driving a VW for 10 years or not does not make a difference to the matter at hand. like I said it depends on how loosely you define that term 'specialist'.

VCS is the specialist since they are defined as a specialized entity to deal with the VW cars. Competence and work ethics are a separate questions. Indeed, some of these outside workshops who are familiar with VW cars are more capable than VCS, specializing on VW or not, well... I would rather say not. They diverse their businesses into repairing other brands in order to increase revenue in the end becoming familiar with multiple brands and some good ones become specialized in multiple brands with different departments running the business.

The original joint-owners of Servotronics (specialising in repairing VAG cars ... VW, Audi et al) were from Auto GTI - the then (Tan Chong Motors owned) AD for VW cars, after Champion Motors relinquished the VW brand, but prior to Car&Cars and then, VCS.

A little known fact. VW has what you would called a training academy in SG

Volkswagen Regional Aftersales Academy / VSQ and Group Office located at Kallang Bahru.

Those folks that works there are like the guru that VW singapore would rely on for the tech support.

If its the usual 5cents 10 cents issue , then they wont even attend to you, so it those major case.

So, some of those specialist workshop do infact have mech that left the academy and join the better workshop.

Of course now that everyone knows of this, I would imagine the pay of this few individual would rise as they would be approached.

So, yes, VW have a whole eco system setup, that supports the occasional Bentley , which some may have seen when they have the SUV for training and learning the diagnostic to the occasional new model R8 as a test car to experiment.

Other then Vw or Vw audi group, Jag also have a well equipe training center. Not sure if BMW has one.

Yes agree on that since they under no obligation to serve only VAG cars. 1 thing though, I have learnt a lot more about my car since I starting driving vw. In a way I think it's a good thing that the owner becomes more knowledgeable about the car and not just hands off leave it to the mechanic.

My recommendation... 3k repair and drive on

I would agree with you too. If he buy a new car , depre will be at least 8k per year? If he spend 3k to fix the problem and drive on, he would still hv 5k extra in the pocket for other repair just in case , otherwise he wiuld save 5k as compare to buying a new car. Moreover , if he really scrap his car, he would have to write off the balanced 4 plus year of depre in one go,that is a lot of money for him to be written off judging from his situation.

But sad to say, many of these owners are doing exactly just that. And when something happens, they just jump and blame the workshop. Customer may be the biggest shot, but customer is not always right.

Say tiquan drive is good alao kana dislike.

Haiz......

what to do. I suppose because of a inherent nature where once you say something good about VW , its like calling the religion a lie.

I also kanna dislike, just because I say, while VW is good and reasonably fast, dont think that it can become a super car just because start to mod it.. also kanna dislike.

I have to say that VW is good to a certain extend. Some VW are good some are not good.
